Donna, I think the Church would fast change it’s directives if told it was to lose it’s tax-exempt status and, also, have to pay taxes on all the real estate it owns. Maybe it’s time for that. If the Church wants to dabble in intimidation, it should be prepared to face the same from those it seeks to frighten. No? :)

Your attempts at intimidation of the Church are noted.

Take your anticlerical, Church hating bigotry to Mexico ... it was official COMMUNIST government policy there for several decades in the XX Century. If Mexico isn't to your likeing, you might try the Peoples' Republic of China ... they're certainly giving a good try at silencing the Church.

In these United States of America we have freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

So the church should not be allowed to comment on any person running for public office? What about government employees? School teachers? How about church-goers—should they also be silenced from commenting?

Sheesh! I guess you agree with Rudy on Freedom—that it’s something we should all have less of!

First of all revoking the tax exempt status of churches without revoking the same for other charitable organizations of a secular nature is unconstitutional facially. Second of all any call for more taxes in state coffers is a lefty loon call. And finally the Church and it's relationship to it's members is none of your business or the states business.

Exactly what part of Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof is unclear to you?

You can take away our tax exemptions if you want. Just make sure you take away the tax exemptions of every other religious organization in the country. And, while you're at it, having to support Planned Parenthood with my tax dollars is repugnant to me and a direct violation of my freedom to practice my religion, so take away their tax funding while you're at it.

The Church follows our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. Jesus said “I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE.”

What part of that don’t you understand, and why would we care about income tax exclusions?

If you want to promote Giuliani, go ahead. Just don’t tell an Archbishop with a doctoral degree in Sacred Theology what he should do. He answers to only one Boss and that Boss is not on this earth. The souls of millions of Catholics are at stake by this pol’s example/scandal and this Archbishop takes that seriously. He is sending a powerful message to Giuliani; it may save his soul if he listens.

So tax-exempt status is really hush money. Shut up about what we do or we'll tax you into submission.

What you're advocating here is rather alarming. If you're a subversive, I might suggest you tone things down a bit. You're no good to your cause if you get yourself banned.
