Fred Thompson on Harry Reids attacks on Rush Limbaugh
Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?

Mitt is highly trained at responding to political situations with multiple responses and positions to cover the current interest of his constituents.Yeah.

“who do you think Rush will support at this point”
I think that the long term Rush listeners always knew who he supported, and we also knew that we would have to read between the lines to verify that (in these early days of the primary). Giuliani was never in the running, and Rush doesn’t like McCain.
With today’s show, I think that Rush has strongly laid out what he thinks of the candidates, Romney disgusts him and he likes Fred.

“Why are Rudy and Rommney supporters so quiet about the non-support non-defense of Rush by their guys ?”
Good point.

While I agree that Fred is a politician, I do believe that with a hectic campaign schedule, candidates are often times slower to respond. I don’t sense that Fred is an individual who is afraid to take a stand (remember Scooter Libby defense and the Michael Moore response).
To: Rational Thought; All
That’s a good point. A reminder to all that this is not out of character for Fred Thompson at all. He came out vigorously in defense of Scooter Libby as well.

All I got to say is that his " True Colors are showing now ". And I believe that color would be "yellow" instead of Red, White, and Blue.

Because there isn’t anything for them to work with.
This Romney thing just hangs out there on it’s own, it is a dagger into the heart of the efforts to rewrite Romney’s political identity,.
All one can do in this case, is wait until this dies down, and then start reposting Romney’s fresh, new campaign literature about being “Reagan Reborn” the most instinctively conservative man in the race.

Why are Rudy and Rommney supporters so quiet about the non-support non-defense of Rush by their guys?Perhaps they're just fine with it.

"I like what Im seeing from Fred." Me too. I've held back on committing myself to a candidate for a couple of reasons. One being I am so totally SICK of the sugary coated, politically correct, poll driven, consultant written CRAP politicians from ALL parties spew. I want to know what a candidate actually BELIEVES on a subject..that's all. And it's OK if it's not exactly what I believe!

If Rush comes out and supports someone in the primaries...I guarantee you it will be Fred.

The more I think about this, the more upset I get at Romney. Is this the type of executive he would be? Yes, I believe it would be. All the "executive experience" in the world means nothing if there's no direction behind it.

And I'll be extremely anxious to see how polling numbers and contribution totals are affected by that.

That is one of the dumb statement. Covering both sides again.

Bump to your excellent post [both of you]. Fred also came out in support of General Petraeus months ago, long before he was to report to Congress, and repeated it all the time the Democrats were wanting to shut down Petraeus’ efforts in Iraq.
Fred’s character is there for all to see.
To: All
The biggest question is:
Where's Duncan or Rudy on this?
McCain and Romney have both put their feet up to the knee in and even if the others come in on Rush's side, it will still be a 'Me too!' kind of statement.
Once again, opportunity missed.

Governor Romney would disagree with the negative characterization of those men and women who serve with honor and distinction in the United States Military. There may be disagreements with individual opinions, but no one would ever dispute the fact that those members of the military who disagree with the war have earned the right to express that opinion. Please tell me this is NOT the statement from Romney's campaign regarding the Rush brouhaha. For someone who is supposed to be so up on current events and have his finger on the pulse of Conservative America, it seems that he just put that finger in a light socket.
Oh my.
