A boy of 12 suffers from so many allergies that he is able to eat only five foods.
Tyler Savage is violently ill every time he is given dishes containing dairy products or wheat, gluten, eggs, lactose and soya.
The sole foods he is allowed are chicken, carrots, grapes, potatoes and apples.
To help him survive, minerals and vitamins are pumped directly into his stomach through a tube.
Tyler started to fall ill at the age of six when even a morsel of food would leave him writhing in agony from sickness and diarrhoea.
His mother, Lynne Savage, 43, said: "We asked for help but kept being told that he was suffering from a stomach infection. As a result his weight dropped drastically.
"He ran out of energy really quickly and couldn't do the things other children were doing. He just seemed to be getting worse and worse.
"It's been a real struggle. We didn't know what to do."
Tyler - from Earls Colne in Essex - was seen by a paediatrician at Chelmsford's St John's Hospital and had his appendix removed in December 2005.
Although the operation was a success it failed to solve the problem and he was referred to Colchester General Hospital for further tests and treatment.
That shed no light on the mystery illness and in April last year Tyler was sent to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for checks on his stomach and bowels.
The tests led to a diagnosis of eosinophilic enteropathy, a rare and condition in which the intestines produce too many white blood cells.
These act as a miniature immune system and attack food passing through the gut to the stomach.
The condition saw Tyler's weight drop to barely three stone.
"He was becoming malnourished," said Mrs Savage, a married mother-of-three and housewife.
At first, Tyler was fitted with a nose tube to help get food direct to his stomach, bypassing the rogue blood cells in his gut.
Then, this May, he had a tube inserted into his stomach allowing him to be fed for up to ten hours through the night.
"Even though this will continue for the foreseeable future, it is a godsend," said Mrs Savage.
"Last year he was only at school for about ten days, but in the first two weeks of this new term he's only missed one day.
"We've got a long way to go but at least we're now getting some answers."
In the day, Tyler, whose father, David, 60, is an engineer, can eat the five foods he is not allergic to.

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Ten years after Oregon adopted the nation's first bill legalizing physician-assisted suicide, no other state has passed a similar law, despite attempts by several legislatures or voter initiatives.
But both supporters and opponents of the Death With Dignity Act predicted efforts to pass such laws will continue, especially as more aging baby boomers deal with fatal diseases.
The Death With Dignity Act allows terminally ill people to obtain lethal doses of prescription drugs from their doctors to self-administer. The U.S. Supreme Court in 2006 upheld lower cour

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) recently issued a document entitled, "Responses to Certain Questions Concerning Artificial Nutrition and Hydration." The document was dated August 1, but was not released until mid-September. The full text, with commentary, was published in the September 27 issue of Origins.
The document was issued in response to two questions posed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops regarding the administration of food and water to those in a vegetative state. The questions had been sent to the Vatican in July 2005 in the aftermath of the national controversy over continued life-support for Terri Schiavo.
Mrs. Schiavo had been in what doctors described as a "persistent vegetative state" for some 15 years. Her only legally recognized guardian, namely, her husband, had testified before the Florida courts that his wife's wishes were that she not be kept alive by the extraordinary means that had been employed on her behalf.
The issue became highly politicized when the President of the United States, the Republican leaders of the House and Senate, and the Governor of Florida became directly involved. The then-majority leader of the Senate, Bill Frist, a medical doctor himself, even presumed to diagnose Mrs. Schiavo's condition on the basis of a videotape.
After an autopsy was done on Mrs. Schiavo, confirming previous medical diagnoses, political figures either tried to explain away their earlier statements or simply fell silent. But there was some seriously negative fallout in last year's Congressional elections.
In response to the questions from the U.S. bishops, the CDF seems now to have come down --- belatedly --- on the side of those who had pressed for the continued administration of artificial nutrition and hydration for Mrs. Schiavo.
The word "seems" is deliberately chosen here because the Schiavo case is not specifically mentioned anywhere in the document or commentary. While it is understandable why the advocates of continued life-support would read these texts as a vindication of their views, it is technically not justified.

God bless you Randall Terry. Thread by wagglebee.
"So-called 'pro-life Republicans' that are endorsing Rudy - like TX Governor Rick Perry, or NY Representative Pete Sessions, are typical treacherous politicians. They have betrayed innocent blood to support a child-killer; we can only wonder what 30 pieces of silver' they are seeking." Randall Terry

Fears that values voters will walk away from the GOP if a pro-abortion candidate is nominated for president continues to animate election discussions. And it should: if the Republican Party's base of conservative voters isn't with the party during the campaign, America will definitely elect a Democrat president in 2008.
With the stakes so high, and with the negative numbers for Democrat front runner Hillary Clinton so high why is there so much controversy on the Right?

After a test showed that one of her twins had Down Syndrome, a 38-year-old woman in Italy had the handicapped fetus aborted this summer -- only to find out that the hospital killed the healthy twin. So she came back for a second abortion and filed a complaint against the medical staff. It turns out that the twins had switched places between the last scan and the actual abortion.
This is just one of many cases showing that, as often as not, aborted fetuses get the last laugh. In incidents like this one, you can almost hear them. Yes, when they take a break from crying, aborted fetuses are laughing at us. Switching places in the womb just in time for the abortion is one of many gags these practical jokesters like to play on us. [more@ExileStreet]

Right. Grapeseed extract is one of the free radical fighting super anti-oxidants that help the body help itself, in many ways.

Re: SCHIP. A 25 year old is not a minor. It has been widely reported that already, adults are abusing the current SCHIP program with no oversight. SCHIP is not going anywhere. It’s not going to be expanded by a new bill, that’s all. The media always leaves that part out.
Why do you think that a school in Maine plans on handing on the pill to 11 year olds? Because planned parenthood knows that sometimes the pill doesn’t work and PP is always looking for new customers. What’s not been considered is that if it’s RU40, they may have some dead little girls on their hands. It’s about keeping the goose that laid the golden egg going. The bosses at PParenthood aren’t qualified for real careers.
Along with his widow and friends here we persevere. (as my head gets stuffed with more than I can grasp of brilliant analysis of the Constitution, founding fathers, and topics dear to our United States of America.)

Awwwwww. I’ trying to quit.
I can’t read all the books anyway. They don’t have pictures in them. It is tough to read books without pictures and little balloons that show what the characters are saying. So I just had to stand around and look like I knew what was going on.
I even made some money. They would hand me their suitcases as they left, and slip me a dollar or two. All I needed to do was pass the suitcases to anyone else and just go away.

Taking Huckabee back off my tag line. He met with Vincente Fox and there’s a Mexican consulate in Arkansas. That’s all I needed to find out.
