Believe it or not there was a time in our country when getting caught in a lie was a big deal. Even if you were a politician you were expected to tell the truth when a lie could be proved. No more. Starting pretty much with Bill Clinton it’s now OK to lie and when confronted with the truth just swear even louder that you’re telling the truth, and if that doesn’t work you just say what are you going to do about it. There are enough people now who subscribe to the idea that the truth is not absolute that you can hardly deal with lies, not matter how big or how damaging.

Even a cursory examination of this much ado about nothing plainly shows that Rush did not attack ‘the troops’ but attacked a single soldier who is still supported by the MSM and Dems even though when the plain truth is there for all to see.

There was also a time when a man’s word was worth something. You looked someone in the eye and shook his hand and you would not go back on that understanding regardless of the cost to you. No more. Now we lie as the first resort, and again going back to Bill Clinton we have learned that many will choose their words very carefully, making sure there is a way to wiggle out of anything they’ve said.

I always take heat when I make this statement, but here goes anyway. Flame away guys. I am SO glad I am in the last of my life and not the first. I would not want to be growing up, or starting my working life again, in today’s ethical atmosphere. The flamers usually start by pointing out it was my generation that screwed up the US. I respectfully disagree.

I was told the same by a 75 year old man......in 1977.

You are so correct in your statement @19. I remember those days also when things just made sense. Now, confusion, obfuscation and absurdity rules the day.

You won’t take any heat from me because I agree with you. I’m glad I’m relatively old (67). I’ve watched this country going downhill for 40 years now and I won’t be sorry when I’m gone. I do feel badly for my son and any grandchildren that may be born but I could go tomorrow and be happy. That way I won’t have to see just how low our society can go.

OTOH, I would like to see the Cubs win a World Series. Then I really WILL go happy.
