Someone makes a carton of Mohammad and Moslems throughout the world riot in the streets. They burn images in effigy. They burn cars. All because of an "insult" to a religious leader who lived some 1300 plus years prior....
But profane sacred Christian music and no one cares. Well I care. I am sure that others care all throughout the world. You don't have to be Moslem nor Jewish to care about your religion. To care when it is profaned. To care when it is made light of.
Messiah, is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel based on a libretto by Charles Jennens...it is Handel's most famous creation and is among the most popular works in the Western choral literature. "The name is taken from Judaism ... In Christianity, the Messiah is Jesus. Handel himself was a devout Christian, and the work is a presentation of Jesus's life and its significance according to Christian doctrine.
Although the work was conceived and first performed for Easter,it has become traditional to perform the Messiah oratorio during Advent, the preparatory period of the Christmas season, rather than at Easter. Christmas concerts often feature only the first section of Messiah plus the "Hallelujah" chorus...
On September 3, 2007, while watching the TNT TV Network, I heard Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus during a commercial. Was this done in conjunction to some Christian event? Was this for any Christian promotion?
No it was done to sell toilet paper. While cartoon characters were being depicted.
Suppose they included Mohamad in their cartoon selling toilet paper. What do you thing the Moslems would do? Perhaps what they have done before.
Suppose they worked in something like the Tora scroll as it is rolled and so is toilet paper. What would happen then? Do you think Jews would react? They would get all those involved fired as antisemitic hate mongers.
So what is this blatant attack on Christianity. What are Christians to do? ...
i guess they figure we won’t riot in the streets over it, so they can take their time. i heard this music in this commercial myself and was astounded at such crassness.
Honestly, this is the least of my worries right now.
I understand your point though.
“What are Christians to do”? We all need to show that the muslim’s are a cult, not a religion. Religions do not profess killing non-christians or jews as the muslims do. The muslim lifestyle does not fit the American lifestyle, it’s not wanted here in this country. Europe is fast finding out that muslims want to take over any country they get involved with and the Europeans are making some big changes. England is fighting them on a daily basis and if they don’t get a handle on these people, their whole way of life will change. I am surprised that the Brits have let this go on as long as they have.
Same as always; pray for the offenders, and protest politely!
Same as always; pray for the offenders, and protest politely!
OOPS! Must’a double clicked!
"Please don't squeeze the Christian."
This is just another example of the crudeness exhibited by the low-grade types who run the media. I’ve always assumed that the bears were in the Charmin ads in the first place as a take off on the old question, “does a bear **** in the woods?” I guess they figured once they could get that one to fly, along with the happy, wiggling backsides (as if we didn’t know what the product was for), then they could take their future ads even farther down the toilet, so to speak.
Disrespect, and worse, we that follow Jesus Christ were warned to expect from the world. We should not be surprised. Reacting to it must be done very carefully, if at all, lest our God be further dishonored.
In what Christian church is this “sacred?” While it is a lovely song that many Christian churches use, it is not doctrinal, any more than Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky”.
This is the flip side to the idiocy of that school district that just prohibited the instrumental performance of Schubert’s “Ave Maria”, because it is “Christian religious music”. While it, too, is beloved by Christians, it is not “sacred” to them.
Heck, Walt Disney even used “Ave Maria” in ‘Fantasia’, hot on the heels of the “devil music” of “Night on Bald Mountain.”
I’m not even sure if such as thing as “sacred music” exists in Christianity, excepting perhaps hymnals that are prayers accompanied by music. But is the sacred part the prayer or the music?
Judaism actually does have a sacred instrument, the shofar, but while the harp is mentioned in the Bible, it is not given any great recognition as a religious instrument.
I agree but P&G ain’t the first. Seems like I’ve seen (actually heard) the chorus used in a lot of movies over the years, espcially after someone get’s “lucky”...
This doesn’t bother me.
Although, it does seem like, for Charmin, they should have used, “Softly & Tenderly”
Sorry, but my crusade is against Carnival Cruise Lines for using Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life” as a jingle.
I actually think this was deliberate.. Too big an organization not to have done research.
They are well aware of what they have done and my family at least will not buy Proctor and Gamble Products until I see a a large contribution from Proctor & Gamble to help establish a Christian Anti defamation Center from which Christians can Educate liberal sacks of human effluvia like P&G that Discrimination against Christians in the Christian Nation of the United States Does not Pay..
Dr. Dobson. quit whining about Thompson. Go get some money from these P&G Bigots and get some good done with it.
