Muslim group touts local political clout

How much political power does the Muslim American Society wield?...."Ask Jim Webb what kind of impact we have. Ask the governor of Virginia...," Mahdi Bray, the Muslim American Society's executive director told The Washington Times...

The Muslim American Society (MAS) claims credit for helping Jim Webb, Democrat, defeat incumbent Republican Sen. George Allen in 2006...MAS said it has registered 65,000 voters in Virginia since the 2005 gubernatorial race, and most of them backed Mr. Webb...

"The Democrat's win hinged on the Muslim vote," Mr. Bray said during interviews about the organization's political activities planned for upcoming elections...

On Thursday, however, the clout established by MAS was put to a political test. The appointment last month of MAS President Esam S. Omeish to Mr. Kaine's immigration commission was suddenly withdrawn after Steve Emerson, of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, posted videos on YouTube showing the Northern Virginia surgeon making references to the "Israeli war machine" and the "Jihad way."

Mr. Kaine asked for his resignation, and Dr. Omeish complied...He said that he did not wish to interfere with the committee's duties, but later blamed the fracas on a religiously motivated "smear campaign."

According to other Muslim leaders, the dust-up probably will lead MAS to shift the focus of its political clout, although it isn't clear what the overall effect will be on its efforts to register thousands of voters nationwide and to recruit future policy-makers and politicians from within its ranks.

"The fiasco associated with the appointment and resignation of Dr. Esam Omeish may actually empower MAS more within their own limited activist Islamist community because it allows them to trump up their victimization agenda even more," said Zuhdi Jasser, a physician and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy....

So now telling the truth about someone's political activities is a "smear campaign."

No surprise here. The Hamas etc., loving Muslims will back the party of surrender. By the way, has Pelosi and Reid installed the foot baths in the Capital building yet?

Mahdi Bray

A former Baptist who converted to Islam in 1976,[1] Bray describes himself as a “long time civil and human rights activist” and has held positions as the political director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and president of the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations (CCMO).[2] He is currently executive director of the Muslim American Society (MAS) Freedom Foundation.[3]

In those roles, Bray has defended terrorists and those alleged to be supporting them. For instance, in March 2004, he declared the Israeli assassination of Hamas spiritual leader Ahmed Yassin as “an unlawful, cowardly and dangerous act of state-sponsored terrorism.”[4]

At a Washington, D.C. rally in 2000, Bray shared the stage with Abdurahamn Alamoudi as Alamoudi declared his support for Hamas and Hizballah.[5] Bray signaled his support for the terrorist organizations, pumping his fist up in the air and grinning as the crowd cheered.[6]

At some point the logical disconnect of religious Muslims supporting secular humanist Dems is going to come to a head. The results will not be pretty.

As soon as the Dems find they are depending on the Muslims to get elected, the Muslims will start making demands. Count on it.

There was a national map on FR a while back showing the places around the country where there were Muslim population centers. It was more than a little scary.

Does anyone have a link to it?? We all must be reminded of what we face on a regular basis.

I think it is clear that already is happening, for instance, look at the Virginia Immigration Commission appointment.

I think they will support any political party or politician who does not object to their attempts to take over our country an impose Islam and sharia law on us. They have made that very clear on repeated occasions. There is no disconnect.
