PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Rudy Giuliani compared himself favorably - and physically - to the Gipper yesterday in his strongest effort yet to lay claim to Ronald Reagan's political mantle.

Voters "saw something different in Ronald Reagan's eyes than they saw in Jimmy Carter's eyes," the ex-mayor told a cheering crowd of 3,000 members of the National Federation of Republican Women yesterday.

Rudy=Reagan? I worked for President Reagan, and I sure don’t see it.

Senator Fred Thompson is the only major candidate that gets it. He makes decisions based on principles. Principles don’t change. You have to stand for something and not change who you are based on the polls. That is what Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney have done and all of the Democrats do it. Give me a leader that will stand by his principles anyday versus someone that stands for everything.

I know many, many Republicans that will stay home if Rudy Giuliani is the candidate. He does not represent our values as Conservatives, and never will. Mitt Romney is a RINO (though I’m sure a very nice man) that simply has everything else and nothing to do: “I guess I’ll just try to buy the presidency”. The White House is NOT for sale!!

Conservatives will simply stay home and the Democrats will pick up additional seats in the House and probably get the 60 seats in the Senate they need to completely destroy our Country. Nice picture huh?

However, I think Fred can bring America back together, if that’s even possible. America needs a rebirth of patriotism and honor. Republicans also need a rebirth. President Reagan was our last rebirth and he can never be duplicated. Fred Thompson will bring his own down-to-earth common sense to this Country and strength back to our party. A little of the good old days of faith and family and patriotism would do well for this Country. If a Conservative runs as a Conservative, he will win!

Think of it this way: Eight years of another Clinton White House? Now if that is not a sufficient enough reason to pull together as a party, as a Country, and fight this socialist liberal takeover of our government, what is? It is not impossible to take back the House and the Senate. We are winning in Iraq—they know it. The best they can do now is stop our progress and choose defeat, just like they did during Vietnam. We lost because Congress chose defeat. History repeats itself when not learned from.

Folks, we are in for the fight of our lives, just as our young men and women are fighting for our freedoms in Iraq and Afghanistan, we must fight for our Country right here and now! I truly believe Fred Thompson is the one man who can pull this party and nation back together! Rudy Giuliani will just tear us apart as a party. Liberal is liberal every day of the week. Rudy is no Reagan!!

Really tick off the leftist hippies and contribute to Fred Thompson: https://www.fred08.com/contribute.aspx?RefererID=c637caaa-315c-4b4c-9967-08d864cd0791

Republican focus groups indicate the base wants another Reagan, so now all the contenders will claim to be the next Reagan. Hoo boy, politics in 2007.

What I remember the most from President Reagans primary and Presidential campaigns is (spoken as the ordinary American he considered himself to be) “Get government off my back”. And he remained true to his word for the full 8 years in office.

Rotorooter giuliani, by history and stated aspirations, has no reason or credibility sufficient to try to convince the electorate that he would even be in the same ballpark as President Reagan on what was the main premise and guiding principle of the Reagan campaign and Presidency.

Agreed, a much better comparison. Giuliani = Schwarzenegger.

Rudy's been out there on the public circuit like Reagan. And unlike Reagan Rudy would have never cut and run from Beirut, nor would he have let the murderers of Leon Klinghoffer on the cruise ship Achille Lauro get free.

If it was Rudy on the phone with the Italian PM, you bet, Rudy would have told Craxi -- the Seals take the terrs, or we'll take that whole airport.

Initially the Italians were not disposed to cooperate, scrambling their own warplanes to prevent a landing at Sigonella, but after a call from Reagan, Italy's Prime Minister Bettino Craxi gave permission to land. The American plan was to load the Palestinians onto a U.S. military aircraft and transport them to the States. But when American troops encircled the 737 they found themselves surrounded in turn by Italian soldiers. Italy had decided that since the Achille Lauro was an Italian vessel, the hijackers should be tried in Italian courts. The terrorists faced charges of premeditated murder, kidnapping and hijacking. When Reagan called Craxi this time, the Italian leader wouldn't budge -- Abul Abbas and his cronies would remain in Italian hands.

(This para from http://eightiesclub.tripod.com/id301.htm -- there are many other sources.)

Later they were freed. Bastards.

What would Fred have done? Called the director over to explain the scene?

Reagan was Reagan. Be yourself and let the voters decide.

The Rudy Derangement Syndrome is all getting a little tiresome. It’s discouraging how many of us on the right would really, honestly, rather see Hillary win.

Just admit it, folks. You miss the Clintons. It made FReeping so much more fun.

If it was Rudy on the phone with the Italian PM...

...he would have interrupted the call to talk to Judi!

"Yes dear... I love you, too..."

Interesting. Conservatives are scoffed at for unjustly comparing Fred Thompson to Reagan, yet here’s Rudy comparing himself to Reagan.

Neither is Reagan. But Giuliani also isn’t a Conservative. FDT is!

If I recall correctly there are some quotes by Rudy saying he would govern about the same as Hillary.

You can't make this stuff up, can you? Rudy (9/11) has the eyes of a reptile.

I wonder if he came up with this line or he paid someone to write it!

Reagan toured the nation, made speeches -- GREAT speeches for conservatism for years. On that basis Fred's a johnny-come-me-too-lately. "Oh look-see, me look-a-like Reagan, me a-make big speechies too!" says the bizarro-world Reagan-wanna-be. A ninety-day wonder as CIC?

Yeah, that's the ticket.

We's at war. We need a war leader.

Giuliani Compares Himself To Schwarzenegger

By JOSH GERSTEIN

Staff Reporter of the Sun

June 29, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Mayor Giuliani is telling California voters wondering what kind of president he would make that they need to look no further than their popular Republican governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“I governed very much like your governor does,” Mr. Giuliani said as he described his tenure as mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001. “I got results and I want people to look at that and say that’s the way I would govern as president of the United States. I would get results,” he said.

I just gave my hundred bucks to Fred.
Because:
“RINO Rudy” will do to the National GOP what our Pataki did to the New York GOP—demoralize, then destroy it utterly.
Far too many Conservatives are unable to hold their noses and vote for the lesser of two evils, anyway.
It will be hunting season, and there are better things to do.......
