Absolutely that is NOT what I’m saying. I’m saying that MANY perceive that the Republicans are ONLY the party of the “evangelical right,” and even many who ARE of the “evangelical right” have priorities. Mine is to keep my family safe #1, period. Dot. Exclamation point. If that requires abortion go on the back burner, I’m all for it. There are no rights for the unborn if there aren’t any people left to “born” them.

From the record of the Bible, which is God's word, that is not the way God thinks about these things. God will make things very unsafe for people and their families and will destroy countries and their so-called security, if they abandon God's principles that He has given them, in place of this so-called security. It has been shown many times, this way, in the Bible with Israel, when they went for "other things" of more importance to them and their families, in place of things which God said were more important.
And so, in that regard, most likely what will happen, if a majority starts thinking the way you are saying, that God will simply bring judgement and/or the very disasters you are talking about preventing, simply because you place certains principles of God at a lower status than other things that you deem more important.
I believe that, certainly, very hard and tough times will happen, and perhaps even more attacks by the enemy and a worse polical climate and/or the worst candidate that one could imagine (perhaps a Hillary...), and it will come about because God will allow people to pursue their own misguided principles to the political situation and He will bring judgement as a result of it.
I guess we'll see..., coming right around the corner in 2008....
