There were some tense moments at a U-Haul facility in Tempe on Friday.
A 14-foot truck was returned to the company's Priest Drive location around 3 p.m.
When a manager opened it up, he spotted some items he thought looked suspicious.
According to Vice President of Product and Safety, "It didnt take me long to call people lets put it that way."
Doug Matteson from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office explains what happened next.
"We opened it up, we saw some items that kinda looked linked to suspicious activity we are not saying this is involved with terrorism we saw some items that kinda bring some attention to our Deputies that work anti-terrorism. We called them out to make sure, have them go through everything."
The Sheriff Office confirms there were no guns, explosives, or hazardous materials found in the truck.
They do say there was a messy pile of suspicious documents and files.
There were also some other items that the Sheriffs Office said it was not prepared to comment on.
The FBI says it was aware of the discovery but according to agent Deb McCarley "there is nothing to suggest it is terrorist related."
Investigators will continue combing through the documents and are trying to dig up more information about the person who last rented the truck.
I’m guessing there needs to be a translation done before any decision could be made about what was there. I’m also guessing no information will be given out, in order not to alert anyone watching for news...
Why are you doing their work for them:’)
The FBI said they've looked at what was found and said it was not a terrorist threat.
But sheriff's deputies spent the night investigating for themselves.
Trust but verify :)
It sad to see the continued decline of objective clarity in journalism. Are they no longer taught to report Who, When, What, Where? Is it really necessary to filter everything through their distorted left wing world views?
Just yesterday there was a thread title ‘FBI says USF students planned to attack Navy Base’ and it wasn’t terror-related either, well not for another few months.
Nor were there any slingshots, pea shooters, catapults or ray guns.
Reminds me of the way the government treats UFO sightings and Flt 800.
Can you post a link? The last one I saw under search was that one of them got bail!
Actually, I was considering aliens.
The unknown "items" were immediately deemed suspcious. Files were mentioned, but what is suspicious about files?
No guns, etc. So, I'm thinking aliens. Possibly alien body parts.
Alien body parts would IMMEDIATELY raise my suspicions.
Hey I once worked for a Federal agency. When we weren’t hiding evidence on extraterrestrials, we spent our time making press releases vague. I just couldn’t help myself! : )
Certainly cleared things up for me, thanks!
“look at the light folks” :’)
And make it a happy memory.
wow thats great.
go sox!

I wonder what they said on tape. I guess it was maybe something but really nothing, huh?
