The dad was right to want to protect his daughter

It's always right to protect your daughter, always. I have two of them myself and a granddaughter to boot.

However, protection is ALWAYS before the fact. This was an after the fact hot-headed action by an out of control man. You're spot on, which unfortunately seems rare for this thread.

Hell, we even have one dolt who suggested that he and his son might want to "talk" with me. I'd bet good money that I've been in more fights than most of the macho men in this thread combined. The difference is that I look back on a violent and bloody past with a great deal of shame. It's nothing to revel in.

Hear Hear! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and if this father had done his job of noting who his daughter was spending her time with and using intimidation rather than force to persuade this lad to keep his mits off his daughter, this whole ugly episode might never have happened.
