Most of these “kids” are bigger and tougher than I am. The only thing I’ve got in most cases is intimidation. They figure somebody 20 years older who is looking them right in the eye and saying, “Don’t you square off on me, young man!” either learned something in the special forces, has a weapon, or is just nuts.
Back in the day the father would have lit up the young man’s behind with a shotgun blast of rock salt.

While a 17 year old is not a legal adult, boys of that age have generally reached close to their adult size and strength. If anything, a match between the teen and the middle-age father would generally give the average teen an advantage
