(AP) WEARE, N.H. First, a father was charged with beating up his daughter's boyfriend last week after learning the two had sex. Now, police are preparing to charge the boy with sexual assault.
The 17-year-old boy from Henniker, who admitted to having sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend, will "absolutely" be charged, police said.
Weare Detective Lou Chatel said the boy will be charged as an adult and could face up to a year in jail.
Both teens admitted to having sex during school hours on Sept. 10, but off school property, Chatel said. That afternoon, he said, the girl's father went to John Stark Regional High School and attacked the boy.
School had just let out and the parking lot was filled with students and parents.
The boy suffered cuts and bruises and received two stitches to his face. The father was charged with simple assault.
It all began that morning when the girl did not show up for her first class, even though she had been seen at school.
School officials searched the building, then put out a school-wide page. When the girl didn't respond, they called her parents.
Principal Michael Turmelle the parents helped search for their daughter, called her cell phone and coordinated with school officials.
The teens returned to school at the same time, through separate doors.
The principal said he's upset at the number of people who have sided with the father.
"We all work so hard to give our kids a safe place to go to," he said. "Any time we have an act of violence, it's very upsetting because it is completely antithetical to what we're trying to accomplish."
The girl and her siblings have transferred to another school, Turmelle said.
The only thing I’d do different would be after the beating, I’d sue the kid for the bruises on my fists.
Exactly! If all these self righteous posters could just see a photo of this boy and girl together I'm sure they wouldn't be able to discern any age or maturity difference. It's the BOTH of them, not just the boy. With an age difference of probably 20 months between this pair of teens, it's absolutely ludicrous to charge the boy with "sexual assault" because of the 'age difference'. I wonder how many times the good Dad allowed his princess to shop at slut shops like Abercrombe, where the big poster at the doorway is a young man with his zipper unzipped and his pubes showing? The young girls today are nothing but temptresses, and they certainly understand this. Actually, they dress like hookers dressed in my day. It isn't the boy who belongs in prison, it's the "adults" who are running our twisted, perverted society.
How do we know he was a senior and that she was a sophmore? For all we know he just turned 17 and she might be turning 16 in three months.

Is one to believe that this was the first and only time? The kids just happened to cut class early in the school year to go somewhere for sex wherein daughter loses her virginity?
This had likely been going on under dad’s nose for months and he was, or chose to be, oblivious. Dad and daughter can take a little blame here, too.
A year in the slammer for a 17 year old who was ‘doing what comes naturally’ probably for the umpteenth time, seems too much. And, dad is not going to want to see the defense the young man’s lawyers will put on. Emotionally, he probably did what most dads would do or want to do. From a practical standpoint he only made things worse for himself and his daughter, her boyfriend, and everyone involved.
If the boy can be criminally charged then so should the girl. Beatings are not appropriate. Charging either one criminally is frivolous. The father was out of line. Violence in a situation like this is ridiculous.
A few weeks back some father in Arkansas beat his daughter’s boyfriend with a pool cue, then shot him and paralyzed him for life. It appears from a lot of the posts here there are a lot of ‘fathers’ who go along with this violence.
That the pair came in late to school should be addressed by the school with appropriate consequences. Was there a declaration that there was a sex act at that time? Or was it just assumed by the father who went into beating mode?
The whole thing is totally irrational.
Since the daughter admitted the act, yes, they probably will charge the male.
In NH, penetration intercourse with anyone under the age of 16 is a felony, subject to up to seven years’ imprisonment.
There is an exception for spousal situations.

The law is the law. You might not like the law, but there it is.
In NH, the law says the the person who is under 16 is the victim. Since she’s 15 and he’s 17, he’s likely to be charged. Since he’s older than 17, he’s no longer a member of the protected class, and she cannot be charged.
The ones we find out about, so the others learn an important lesson.
Daddy needs to own his own failures as a father for why his daughter is out there having sex. But, that would be too easy so let’s go beat up a high school kid as a way of regaining his family’s honor.

A 17 year-old boy and his 15 year-old girlfriend having sex doesn’t belong in court, let alone adult court as a statutory rape, IMHO. I don’t think that they two should be doing the deed, but adult criminal charges aren’t the way to handle it.
Dad needs to get a grip. Most dads in this situation manage to deal without beating up the boy, although I’m sure most have imagined it.

It is not possible to have consensual sex with a minor.

Wrong. I have one of each. I would have no problem beating a kid who did this to my daughter.
