(AP) WEARE, N.H. First, a father was charged with beating up his daughter's boyfriend last week after learning the two had sex. Now, police are preparing to charge the boy with sexual assault.
The 17-year-old boy from Henniker, who admitted to having sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend, will "absolutely" be charged, police said.
Weare Detective Lou Chatel said the boy will be charged as an adult and could face up to a year in jail.
Both teens admitted to having sex during school hours on Sept. 10, but off school property, Chatel said. That afternoon, he said, the girl's father went to John Stark Regional High School and attacked the boy.
School had just let out and the parking lot was filled with students and parents.
The boy suffered cuts and bruises and received two stitches to his face. The father was charged with simple assault.
It all began that morning when the girl did not show up for her first class, even though she had been seen at school.
School officials searched the building, then put out a school-wide page. When the girl didn't respond, they called her parents.
Principal Michael Turmelle the parents helped search for their daughter, called her cell phone and coordinated with school officials.
The teens returned to school at the same time, through separate doors.
The principal said he's upset at the number of people who have sided with the father.
"We all work so hard to give our kids a safe place to go to," he said. "Any time we have an act of violence, it's very upsetting because it is completely antithetical to what we're trying to accomplish."
The girl and her siblings have transferred to another school, Turmelle said.

In many cultures - including our own country - the girls brothers would have shared this responsibility of beating the crap out of anyone who touched their sister. Dad’s shouldn’t have to accomplish the mission themselves.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. High school students come and go off campus all the time. Work release off campus classes etc. High school students are responsible for following the rules. Principals cannot be held responsible for every minute of the day for 1000+ students. There are dozens of unexcused absences every day in a typical school, to think a principal could have them all arrested is ludicrous.
I'd say no one at that school would touch his daughter again, so yes, he has accomplished something. Meanwhile they'd also think twice about the other girls as well. If there were two or three more public beatings I'd be willing to venture that the teen pregnancy rate in that town would see an identifiable drop, along with STDs among teens.
She skipped class. That’s truancy. It’s against the law.

You’ld be wrong, if she’s passing it out there will be plenty of takers. He’ll catch very few of them and in 2 1/2 years all comers will be legal and his macho solution will get him in jail. Oh! by the way statistics say missy will have given birth by now and he’ll be raising the kid and missy. His problem is that he has not instilled values in his daughter. Like I said he has solved nothing!
Geography? Northern California is the most conservative part of the state. We drive trucks and SUVs. The Subarus and the people who drive them are on LA's West Side and the Bay Area.

You are dreaming here and not acknowledging the reality of teens today and really the last 25 years. If she is your modern teenager then she’s likely had sex before, she dresses rather trampy and acts in ways that are somewhat rude and inappropriate. She won’t have any of the emotional maturity that you might think accompanies these actions but she’ll still act like she’s a lot older than she is.
50 years ago he would not have beat him up he would have forced a marriage.

Before you get all carried away waving the flag, this would have been legal in most states. In Texas for example, unless he's a full 24 months older than her there could be no charge.

As to roughing up Jr.? Dunno what I’d do, as a father, if I found that situation happening. Thankfully it hasn’t so far.
Jr. in this case is just doing what his untrained instincts are telling him to do.
More likely I’d go over and kick Jr’s father’s arse for not teaching his son gentlemanly manners: what Dad doesn’t teach the Son isn’t going to know. And if the son has no manners it is because the Dad doesn’t have any, so just perhaps they both need teaching, for their own good.
Actually not! The marriage wasn’t forced legally but socially. The boys and girls parents would have been so disgraced and shamed in the community that they would have gotten together to get the deed done as soon as possible in order to claim in Col North’s vernacular “plausible deniability”
