Ok, up until now I have been seriously doubting Thompson's conservatism w/r illegal immigration. I've been looking at his Senate votes and his ABI ratings, which straddle the rence. But - if he was man enough to say this and will stand behind what he said, without apologizing or retracting it, I'll support him. I don't think a politician can think that the anchor baby policy is wrong without also thinking that amnesty, allowing uncontrolled illegal immmigration, or turning a blind eye to employers that hire illegals would be wrong as well. It was a gutsy statement and I admire him for it.
