Note to Congress and the WH: If barriers are good enough for the American public, how about we string 'em around you all? After all, what's good enough for the taxpayers oughta be good enough for our pols...

Barriers are walls that may be defeatable with wire cutters. But it’s a start.

It'll take more than wire cutters for this barrier. More like heavy industrial equipment such as cutting torches. That's why it will ultimately be a double fence: sensors will detect activity and before the second barrier can be breached, agents will arrive to apprehend the people. A barrier by itself can't prevent entry, but it can slow people down enough to make avoiding detection and apprehension very difficult.
