Once Adrian Flanagan and his team realised that the sea-ice East of the Taymyr peninsular had no intention of yielding, they were faced with the unwelcoming prospect of seeking a fast alternative, or risk abandoning Barrabas and the entire expedition altogether.
The favoured option was to have Adrian's boat transported through the ice onboard one of the ice-breaker ships bound for Murmansk...
"...the Murmansk Shipping Company, operators of the ice-breaker fleet in the western Arctic. It was one such vessel - the Kapitan Danilkin ... that was suggested as the transport. Based on the quote - steep but under the circumstances one that merited serious consideration - [we] accepted.
"I was immediately faced with the prospect of having to abandon Barrabas in Tiksi, unable as I am to return next year and Why, if the price was so radically inflated from the original quote had it only been made known to us hours before the ship was due to sail?
"... Calls were made, opinions exchanged, history revisited, decisions recalled, negotiations conducted and finally agreements reached, contracts written, exchanged, signed and returned At five minutes to eleven, Louise called with the outcome. The price had been cut by 60% but was still double the original quote. This was a face-saving compromise, a big pill to swallow but not so big it would stick in my craw. At two minutes to eleven as the deadline beckoned only 120 seconds away I radioed the ship to tell the Chief Mate we had an agreement.
"I am back on stand-by for loading."

British yachtsman Adrian Flanagan attempted to be the first to sail across the arctic north of Russia. He based his hope on the fact that he believed in the Global Warming propaganda that the arctic is rapidly losing its ice thus making his trip possible.
One little problem.
Cold cruel reality has crushed the Global Warming hype and now Flanagans boat is trapped by ice in the arctic.
To add to the irony, Flanagan who seems to be destined to go down in history as Wrong Way Flanagan, is now pleading with Russian authorities to provide him with the services of a nuclear powered icebreaker to get him out of his embarrassing situation.

If they wait long enough I’m sure all the ice will melt as promised and they can hitch a ride on the next shrinking ice floe with the doomed polar bears.
Besides the arctic ice, Wrong Way Flanagan now appears to have another problem. Remember those polar bears that Global Warming activists were warning us were endangered? Well, it now seems that the tables have been turned and those endangered polar bears are now endangering Flanagan:
Ostrov Peschanyy is a bleak, featureless island that is little more than a sand spit rising a few metres above sea level. Its a resting place for walrus and Western Arctic Marine Operations HQ have advised Adrian to keep a careful watch for polar bears hunting walrus there...

hehehe...careful of the polar bears, STUCK IN ICE! Couldn’t be happier to hear the news, I only wish he had Al Gore with him.
No rescue! Let him wait...

Adrian Flanagan’s Alpha Global Expedition remains at a standstill. Forty-six-year-old Flanagan who resumed his Alpha Expedition to sail solo round the world on the ‘vertical’ route in mid July remains in Russia, restricted by ice.
Due to ice on the north-eastern side of the Tyrmyr peninsular which blocked the eastern approaches to Proliv Vil’kitskogo Flanagan has been unable to continue his voyage. One of the most recent ideas was to follow an icebreaker through through Proliv Vil’kitskogo, joining a caravan of three small merchant ships. However, this option had to be cancelled because the weather took a change for the worse.
