That gunship makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Awesome picture too.
The gunship may make you all warm and fuzzy, but this worries me:

Those things will fly forever. Mine was 25 years old when I was a crew chief. And that was 30 years ago! Thanks for the pic.
Awesome!!!
Oh NO! Look out! The Americans are attacking us with countermeasure flares! We must surrender immediately!
That’s pretty impressive flying
Flares and chaff are countermeasures for inbound thermal- and
radar-guided missiles.
What would be more awesome is the mini-guns blazing as
the aircraft assumes a gentle bank toward the targets.
“Bulldog. This is Puff the Magic Dragon. Where do ya want it?”
“Put it on the camp. We don’t own it. Those people do.”
“Roger, Bulldog. This will only take a minute.”

Dag. That’s some serious flying...
Thanks for the posting. What a great pilot and camera operator. WOW!
During the Spectre scene in Transformers, I got goosebumps...what an awesome addition to the arsenal!
Wait a sec. The C-130 was not introduced into service until about 1958
or 1959.
If yours was 25yo 30yrs ago (1977), that would mean it was intro’ed
in 1952.
My father nav’ed on a C-130 from the early 60s to 1979.
LAPES, Hue and Quang Tri City to you, too!

That’s an incredible flight machine. But can it do that fully armed?
My bad. The plane was 20 years old but my memory is 50 ;-)
Link didn’t work for me.
No.
Its all done on a Hollywood backlot w/ computer simulations
and cameras fitted w/ IR lenses.

Linky no worky :(
Yes. The Su-30 will wow people at air-shows around the world. Add a bit of colored smoke and with that vectored thrust, it can twist and turn with the best of air-show biplanes.
As far as an air-show aerial contortionist act goes, nothing beats the SU-30.
Sadly for the Russians, that's not what wins on the battlefield.
The Raptor will shoot those things right out of the sky before the SU-30 pilot even knows that a Raptor is watching him.
Just like with Chinese Kung-Fu, there are some styles that are very showy but useless in a fight, and styles that look goofy but kick serious butt.
The Chicoms knew that the revolutions came out of monasteries (like Myanmar [Burma] is experiencing today), where they carried on the traditions of kung-fu. So the Chinese commies took over the mantle of Kung-fu and developed their own style called Wu-Shu. Wu-Shu is absolutely amazing stuff to watch... guys flying in the air and landing in splits...
...unfortunately, it's virtually useless in a fight. What did work for centuries were arts like Wing-Tsun (which Bruce Lee learned), which do not look at all pretty but are more effective. Nowadays, real fighters know to learn Muay Thai, BJJ and Sambo - none of which look pretty and look good on the big screen.
Similar story with fighter jets.
Some look gorgeous in an air show. Like the SU-30. It just better hope it doesn't come across a Raptor on the battlefield - airshow, YES, battlefield? Uh-uh.
So don't be fooled by the SU-30. It's a peacock, not a Raptor.
