HOP INTO Jim Ogonowski's pickup truck and the message he wants to send is clear. This is a regular guy who just happens to be a Republican, up against opponent Niki Tsongas and the Democratic machine in the race to represent the Fifth Congressional District in Washington.

Jim Ogonowski has the further cachet of being the brother of John Ogonowski, pilot of the fated American Flight ll, one of two planes that were flown into WTC on 9/11/2001.

That sort of event tends to cause the formation of deeply held convictions, or sharply reinforcing some that were already there. There are, of course, many people in Massachuetts who have argued and rationalized themselves out of those deep convictions, but surely, Jim Ogonowski is not one of them.

Massachuetts, now almost the bluest of the blue states, could stand at least a small coloration of purple.

When speaking of the “citizens” of Massachusetts, realize that today’s residents of Lexington and Concord would have been throwing rocks at the MINUTEMEN as they formed up to face the benign representatives of the English King.
Also, those “Minutemen” actually (gasp) owned GUNS and were willing to use them. By today’s standards, criminals one and all. /s

I dont think much of Jims chances. I live in MA, the state thats bluer then the thumb of a hitchhiking eskimo! Every day as I drive to and from work, I pass big, beautiful homes with Niki Tsongas signs all over them - the Massachusetts Elite, if you will. I bet each of them regularly attends John Kerry cocktail parties.
