We have our own version in the U.S. of subjective determination of who is awarded the victimhood status of being "nonwhite". Some prestigious universities have set de facto limits on the number of Asians in their student body, all for the sake of diversity and tolerance. These Asians, who excel academically over other nonwhites as well as those of European descent, are discriminated against under the "affirmative action" scam, even more so than are whites.
Being judged not by the color of one's skin but by the contact of one's character is still a dream, whether under the old days of segregation or the current era of PC-driven affirmative action.
When I was in England and Scotland last year with my English-born and raised wife, we ate at a number of restaurants in London, Edinburgh, and other British towns. I never knew if the people serving us were British or otherwise until they opened their mouths. Most of them were of apparently eastern European origin. All of them were to me indistinguishable in physical appearance from the native Brits. And what would people make of Brits like Ian McShane who has a much darker skin color than most Brits I've seen? Would he be considered non-White? The whole white/non-white issue is ludicrous.
Ah, here it is.
