“Thompson’s refusal to back a nationwide ban on gay marriage has irritated potential supporters.”

If those “supporters” want a federal nanny, they can vote for other liberals and see their dreams to fruition.

Once again, so many so-called “conservatives” who love big government so long as it furthers their agenda but are quick to whine when it doesn’t.

I think it was the fact that he went back and forth on the issue that upset them:

But Weyrich said that after Thompson told members of the group this summer that he supports the Federal Marriage Amendment, the conservative leaders became concerned when they started seeing media reports indicating Thompson didn’t support the measure. Thompson came back again to make his pitch to the group this month and confirmed that, because of his federalist views, he would not back the amendment.

Also, it has been part of the GOP platform as well.

NEW YORK – Republicans endorsed an uncompromising stand against gay marriage Wednesday.....A panel made up largely of conservative delegates approved platform language that calls for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and opposes legal recognition of any sort for gay civil unions.

There is not much distance from some of America's home grown fanatics and the ones of the middle east. Believe what we believe are we'll kill you.

If all 50 states ban gay marriage i don’t think it would bother him a bit.

Exactly. This crazy idea that's grown up over the past several years that someone running for President has to have a rigid stance on every bloomin' issue -- and God help him if he ever changes his mind about something after more thinking about it -- is just ludicrous. Too many voters are after an agenda-spouting robot these days, not a man or a woman.

How many liberals want to prevent queers from marrying?

Yeah, these evangelicals have been so successful in outlawing abortion following their own strategy.
