Now that’s really interesting, considering that I just had Verizon disable my text function entirely (which I have almost never used), because I began to get unsolicited text messages, including being fraudulently signed up for a subscription to a joke-of-the-day service, all of which I would have been charged for.

Verizon told me that they didn’t have the capability to block messages from particular sources.

FYI, and others, if you start to reveive text mesaages such as the ones you mention, reply to them with the word STOP. That will usually unsubscribe you.
