Read what Verizon said:
“In turning down the program, Verizon, one of the nations two largest wireless carriers, told Naral that it does not accept issue-oriented (abortion, war, etc.) programs...”
Like it or not, pro life messages would definitely be “issue olriented.”
All I ask is that you compare Verizon with whatever carrier you now have, and I feel you will see a HUGE difference.
Verizon isn’t a religion; it’s a company, and it is a company that in my research doesn’t promote evil the way others do. But each person must research the company that they do business with.
Peace
I had Verizon block all text messages to our phones.
Now that’s really interesting, considering that I just had Verizon disable my text function entirely (which I have almost never used), because I began to get unsolicited text messages, including being fraudulently signed up for a subscription to a joke-of-the-day service, all of which I would have been charged for.
Verizon told me that they didn’t have the capability to block messages from particular sources.
Naturally.
Democrat "peas in a pod"....
Don’t be so sure. As indicated in my other post on this thread, I found myself fraudulently signed up for a joke-of-the-day service. I didn’t respond to their initial e-mail. All I did was hit “delete” on the message, and presto, I was subscribed.
You are right. What if our ISP’s decided to block access to FR? This falls in the same category. This is also at the heart of the whole net-neutrality debate. The carriers would like to control what is transferred over their networks so that they can control the revenue streams in certain niches. Others see them as bitpipes using public assets which they lease from the US people.
Good, but you know that the feminazis will itch and moan and Verizon will back down. Let’s see if a pro-life group can send messages!
I researched which company gave me the best deal and which one I could use at my house. Verizon is spotty at my house. I don’t need a cell I can’t even use in my own home.
Well maybe VERIZON will work best, or the same as some others, in someone ELSE’s house.
And VERIZON doesn’t have a left-wing immoral agenda, like some of the others do.
Many of us care about that, and you should, too. But it’s a free country.
I also heard a quote from a Verizon rep that stated that it had nothing to do with NARAL, but abortion in general. And that so far no Pro Life group had requested the service but that if they did, they will deny those messages also.
What difference is it if Verizon rejects text messages, or if they decided to block all telephone calls through their company from "certain" advocacy groups. Let's say you decide to call your Pro Life group, and instead got a message saying "Verizon does not connect with abortion groups".
This is just plain wrong!!!!!
“Well maybe VERIZON will work best, or the same as some others, in someone ELSEs house.”
That’s all fine and dandy but it’s MY house where I make the most long-distance calls. I don’t go knock on a friend’s door to make calls.
I gave up a long time ago trying to base all my buying decisions on ideology. It’s hopeless. If I avoided or boycotted EVERYTHING that at least some Freepers think should be boycotted, I wouldn’t have a life. I guarantee that even you shop at, buy from, or eat at places that any number of Freepers think you should avoid.
Tech ping... a real-world example of why Net Neutrality is critical. Suppose Verizon’s politics leaned the other direction? Would you like to never hear from AFA or your church group again?
so happy we have Verizon Wireless .. gonna pay my bill extra early this month!
Nice.
When did the free flow of information to interested parties become a left-wing immoral agenda?
I’m very disappointed to hear that because apparently I support at least some of an immoral agenda.
I sent an email to that “expert” at UM stating that Verizon has no interest in deciminating their unborn user base.
This is not censorship.
Free speech is a two-way street, and boycotts are a form of free speech.
Now remember, boycotts are different from the govt. controlling businesses.
