If continuing to treat someone so severely injured amounts to vicious torture, then it's not about socialized medicine, it's about basic human decency.

The mixup between wing and wheel-well might have been an issue of translation loss - the Russian word for "wing" as in the wings of a theater (кулисы - kulisih (?)) is similar to the Russian word for wheel (колесо - kohlyesa (?)).
