CHEYENNE -- The list of GOP presidential hopefuls scheduled to speak at forums in Casper and Riverton this weekend swelled to five on Monday, then quickly shrank back to four.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., has committed to take part in the Saturday forums at Casper College and Central Wyoming College, organizer Perry Marple said.
Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, meanwhile, has pulled out of the events, which will feature actor and former Tennessee Sen. Fred. Thompson, Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., and Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., Marple said.
Paul's campaign team gave no reason for his decision to pull out, Marple said. The campaign Web site shows Paul attending a rally in Manchester, N.H., that day.
In another slight change, Thompson has decided to participate only in the Casper event; a video of his presentation will be shown at the Riverton forum, Marple said.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Arizona Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney declined to participate in the forums.
Romney visited Jackson in August, and his wife paid a visit to Cheyenne.
Despite the snub by the campaign front-runners, the Saturday forums appear to have attracted an unusual number of candidates to Wyoming.
The Wyoming Republican Central Committee earlier moved up the GOP county conventions to Jan. 5 in an attempt to entice Republican candidates to visit the state and give Wyoming a role in the national selection process.
State GOP activist Tom Sansonetti said the commitment by four presidential hopefuls to appear at a Wyoming campaign event is proof that the tactic is paying off.
It means that Wyoming is slowly but surely being put on a par with Iowa and New Hampshire, said Sansonetti, who is coordinating the state party's 2008 county conventions. It means that Wyoming's move to January 5 is garnering the attention that was hoped for.
In addition to the presidential hopefuls at the forum, Wyoming's congressional delegates have been invited to give speeches on topics of their choice at the Casper forum, although none have yet committed, Marple said.
The first forum will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Casper College's Erickson Thunderbird Gym. The second event with the same format will be at 5 p.m. the same day at Central Wyoming College in Riverton.
Speeches by the candidates will lead off both meetings, followed by questions from Republican precinct committee men and women. The precinct people, who will be credentialed before each event, will have reserved seating.
The public is invited to attend either or both forums, the GOP says.

It seems Ron Paul has an evil twin brother, Pon Raul who is out making it look like Ron Paul is going on 9.11Truth radio shows and talking about government conspiracies and cover-ups. It isn’t fair that Ron is being labeled a Kook because of actions by his evil twin brother. We need to make sure no one is confused and thinks these videos are of Ron.
Ok, so you are not interested in answering my question.
*****Ok, so you are not interested in answering my question.****
What question? I went through my pings and this is the only post from you I saw.
There are much saner (!) liberal talk show hosts on whose show Paul could appear. Jones is a lunatic.
Since we are Conservatives here at Freerepublic, this position is a fatal one. Anyone coming into this forum pushing the candidacy of Ron Paul should expect the full fury of those of us who find it disgusting for a us to have to tolerate the proxy views of Al Qaida.
Pro Ron Paul posts and threads are instantly targeted as spam, and should not enjoy validation here in this forum, IMO.
The question was, “did the 911 truthers endorse Ron Paul”?
and youll continue supporting rino's why ?
have them watch this....

part of the attack was taunting Rudy that he was in on 911.
“Ron Paul has clearly and consistently disagreed with any theories that the government brought down the towers on 9/11, if thats the truther/9/11 denier theory that you are referring to.”
problem with saying things is that it is just that words.
His association and embracing of the Truthers make me kinda go hmmmmmmmmm.
If only Pauls father had pulled out, too.
Fell off my chair laughing...thanks for the giggle.
Glad to be of service.
The Paul and the Paulistinians are an embarassment to the USA.
Let me introduce you to Alex Jones' websites and you tell me.

Alex Jones was on a History Channel special on 9.11 Conspiracies as the 'father of the 9.11 Truth Movement'. The only difference between Alex Jones and David Icke is that Alex doesn't go into alien conspiracies (much)... Ron Paul chooses of his own free will to associate himself with Alex over and over and over even though it is no secret that Jones is the #1 Truther and conspiracy nut.
You can say all day long that Paul doesn't believe in 9.11 conspiracies, but it is a complete fallacy to say he doesn't court them.
Visit the sites listed above and get back with me.
Then that begs the question why would truthers feel kinship with Paul?
My mom used to tell me that you are judged by the company you keep. And from what I have seen ...alot of his organized supporters are truthers. And thats the organized campaign base. A candidate should have SOME control over that base. If he cannot control that ..well..again makes me kinda go hmmmmmmmm. His campaigners are making it seem as though he does associate and embrace them...perhaps he should be stronger in the correction of this notion if it is not so
I see no reason to believe the “truthers” idea about a 9/11 cover up. However, if you look at the government’s cover ups of Ruby Ridge, Waco, and TWA (800 or 600?), you should be able to understand why such things are given some creditability by some people. Plus a lot of people, with some reason, believe there was also a cover ups of the Kennedy Assassination and the Oklahoma City bombing.
I don’t think I was posting on FR at the time of Ruby Ridge Waco, or TWA; but I would bet there were a lot of people on FR who thought the government was covering up in those situations.
But L.Ron won’t condemn Ahmadenijad. Sickening.
That's a MIHOP truther. There are also LIHOP truthers.
