All three of my children know how to kill an intruder. A twelve year old with a weapon, and the brains to know how to use it, can easily defend him or herself against three or more intruders.
Even more, my kids were taught to be aware at all times upon entering and leaving their house.
When they were in grade school, I remember telling them that I would be hiding in the yard, and that if I could get within one or two feet of them without them being aware of me, before they reached the house, then so could a real bad person. Not only did we all have a lot of fun, they became trained for life. PS I paid them ten dollars if they could reach the front door. Both of my daughters have thanked me for this training.
Can you imagine if Emily was out in the Yard, occasionally with a compound bow, shooting a target. Do you think these savages would have tried to enter the house?
My deer target is in plain sight in my yard. Things like that send a potent message.
And... I do not at all blame the parents. Not at all.
I started them out on gun use and gun safety from before their first birthday.
They also had toy bows and later some effective bows.
I remember my oldest daughter’s first crossbow shot when she was twelve in the front yard. We have woods in front.
They also are familiar with other weapons.
One just graduated from college, and she had occasion to get three would be criminals running from her on a very dark night, in an isolated place.
Most people who scope out a place become aware of the dangers involved in a break-in, not always, but usually. These criminals usually avoid the dangerous homes. They do not like burglar alarm systems either.
My family’s ability to defend ourselves is what everyone should do.
I have taught safety and responsibility for the use of any weapon. Above all else, you do not want to have an accident.

Well you can rest assured that in NC where politicians bend over backwards to stick it to whites (especially upper middle class lacrosse players) and go out of their way to coddle black thugs it is very unlikely that justice will be served. In this case "justice served" would be the death sentence for all three of these animals. I hate to mention the word lynching, but it almost seems appropriate here.
We have dozens of articles posted here decrying the immature state of our college students and the "extended adolescence" of our 20 year olds.
But kids should NEVER be left alone, according to several posters.
So, how are we supposed to teach our kids to be responsible for themselves?

There were two instances where I might have been if a firearm hadn't been handy, but the sight of the firearm pointing at the potential criminal made them go away.

We live in a screwed up world. In a lot of places, innocent people are denied the tools they use to defend themselves from evil. The scum have all the tools of murder they want. I wonder how well gun control would have worked in our frontier days or in the old west. Children were taught to shoot to defend themselves then. We need to be able to defend ourselves from evil now.
Makes me think of a show hosted by Geraldo years ago.
A 13 yr. old boy (who had hunted a LOT with his dad), was home alone while his parents went out for an hour or two.
2 thugs with LONG records broke into the house. The kid quickly took them down with a deer rifle. One died in the house, the other escaped out the window but bled to death on the front lawn.
You could tell the dad was PROUD of his son in the interview.
If only this girl had a gun and some basic knowledge.
