As bizarre as the lawsuit is, CBS will settle big-time for (my guess) $20 million.
Why?
The last thing on earth the democrat party and CBS wants is for the discovery process of this litigation to open up to the light of day how CBS creates the news. All just around the time of the 2008 presidential election. $20 million is a bargain to shut Rather up.
>>>Dan Rather continues to stand by the story, and in subsequent interviews has articulated that he believes that the documents have never conclusively been proven to be forgeries and that even if the documents are false, that the underlying story is true.<<<
Remember these lines? The truth as I want it to be. Deep down inside, these guys wanted to burn Bush badly. And they let that hate be their own undoing.
Or the emails from journalist Michael Smith to Mary Mapes:
“What if there was a person who might have some information that could possibly change the momentum of an election but we needed to get an ASAP book deal to help get us the information?” Mapes replied, “that looks good, hypothetically speaking of course.”
So nice to see they’re interested in just the facts, ma’am.
Still, cbs will have to answer w/i 30 days ( is this state or federal court?). It will be fun to read what its position is. My guess is that, to show good cause for its actions, cbs will have to say the story was “flawed”.
>open up to the light of day how CBS creates the news.
all the news thats fit to forge...
Or how deeply connected they are with the DNC
