For those who remember the movie, The Lion in Winter, this was the family portrayed - Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard I, Geoffrey and John. What historical find.

Henry II is also the king who battled with Thomas Becket and caused him to become "the holy blessed martyr" of Canterbury (cf. Geoffrey Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"). There's also a movie called Becket.

Henry II had more of France under his control than did the French king Louis VII (who had been married to Eleanor earlier).
