The major difference between then and now is during WWII “Latinos” considered themselves “Americans.”

"he major difference between then and now is during WWII Latinos considered themselves Americans. "Bingo. I shared a shelter-half with a 'Latino' from the Southwest after we landed in Marseilles in 1944. I am Irish. The squad leader was an Italian from the East. I don't know what the platoon leader was but he was killed in Germany and buried in France.

The major difference between then and now is during WWII Latinos considered themselves Americans.Exactly! I believe all American forces considered themselves "Americans" then and were not the whiners that some are now.

The major difference between then and now is during WWII Latinos considered themselves Americans. That is BS. I served with several 'Latino' sailors and I never met one who considered a rough cultural classification term invented by Napoleon III to alienate the US to be more important than being an American. Many of these sailors were certainly proud of their heritage, but never to the detriment of in competition with their Americanness. Your slam at active duty service members and veterans is NOT appreciated.
