I joined the Marines in 1982 when I was 17 years old. I never came close to combat, but I did train for it.

It brings tears to my eyes when I see what the old bread went through in WWII. Braver men have never walked the face of the Earth.

You joined up, sir. Whether you saw combat or not isn’t the point. You had more courage than so many who think they do not owe their country anything at all. Thank you.
