I saw an interveiw with Ken Burns this morning where he says that no one is in this film unless they were fighting in the war or at home waiting for your loved one to come home.

He kept politics out of the documentry.

I have been waiting months for this.

I’ve watched the first two episodes.

One thing certain is that if you want to understand your mother/father & grandparents (regardless of which side they may have been on), watch the show.

Try not to watch it with too much alchohol.

This isn't exactly related, but Peter Jackson (of King Kong and Lord of the Rings fame) is producing a remake of the 1954 film Dambusters. That was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Some of you might find it interesting, although it's a ways off - casting later this year, filming next year. Over the past 10 years, we've had a string of really good WWII movies (along with the Military and History Channels) and hopefully this will help continue the trend.
