exactly. The government decides how much the “peoples” need. The government decides how much they SHOULD be spending. The government decides the base needs. The goverment decides who can pay more.
to each according to their needs, from each according to their abilities.
Prebate is communism.
I think if you'll read your Karl Marx you'll see that he mentions a progressive income tax and a tax on generational transfer of wealth as two mainstays of communism.
I disagree with the prebate in and on principle. It is an unfortunate necessity with our political situation in the past, present, and future. The libs would go bonkers and unleash relentless attacks about taxing the formula for a single mothers baby and the such.
Also, it is a far better solution to said problem than creating a list of exempt products. It is better to have no exemptions. The exemption fights would be long, hard, and crazy. And the exemption list would grow and grow and grow, and the associated lobbying to get a product exempted would rival if not surpass current tax legislation lobbying.
I remember several years ago in a state that I want to say was NJ, they had an exemption battle on sales taxes. The one that really stuck out in my mind was a huge argument over the exemption of toilet tissue and what constituted toilet tissue. Was it just roll toilet paper? Should expensive two ply quilted be exempt, or just basic single play ass scratcher paper be exempt? Do regular tissues count as toilet tisse and get exempt? How about baby wipes?
To avoid such nonsense battles and decrease the amount of and power of lobbying it is best to have no exemptions and suffer the prebate.
