OCALA, Fla. -- Four police officers are under investigation here after a man accused them of using a Taser on him three times when he wouldn't take his hand off a Quran hidden under his shirt, a police spokesman said Friday.
Jeffrey Shields, 49, of Ocala, filed a complaint with the Ocala Police Department alleging an officer used a Taser to force him to hold up his right hand, police spokesman Lou Biondi said. In a complaint filed Tuesday, Shields said he did not want to raise his right hand from under his shirt because he did not want to drop the Quran, but the officers said they could not tell what he was holding, Biondi said.
"The officers didn't have a clue what he had under there, regardless of what he was saying," he said. Officers were dispatched to the scene on Aug. 31 after authorities received tips that a man matching Shields' description was armed with a gun and stashing drugs inside a book, Biondi said. Neither drugs nor a gun was found after the incident.
Shields was shocked with the Taser for 15 seconds before he removed his hand from the book, Biondi said. He filed the complaint against four officers ---- Phil Hazel, Doug Russell, Bernard Smith and Jamie Buchbinder -- though no police records show Russell was on the scene when the Taser was deployed, Biondi said. All four will remain on duty while the incident is reviewed. "It is odd that he waited so long to file a complaint, 19 days or so," Biondi said. "Normally when people feel they've been wronged, it's something that happens almost immediately." A phone number for Shields could not be located.
Biondi said a police dashboard camera did not capture the incident. Shields was initially given a court notice for resisting arrest without violence, Biondi said, but charges were dropped at his Sept. 10 appearance.

1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 perfectly symmetrical white dots are usual wear and tear? i know guns but i must be missing something.
To: thefactor
No.I won't give you that much b/c I don't think it's true.
Most normal people are smart enough to know that it doesn't matter what you say you are holding under your shirt, doesn't matter if you ARE holding what you say you are holding, it just doesn't matter WHAT you are holding....if the cops can't see your hands and you don't show them when asked then forced should be used (only a cop with a suicide wish would turn his back on someone who won't show his hands).
Liberals, looking to make a victim, would defend this man's actions, but the rest of us wouldn't--no matter what he has in his hand (even a bible).

Liberals wouldn’t defend him if it were a Bible.

i know. i pinged those guys because we have spirited discussions on police actions.
my only thought here was that it was raining and that made this guy 1)carry it under his shirt and 2)made him really not want it to hit the wet ground.
other than that, i'm at a loss.

with peace and civility had by all. Best for all. Objections can be expressed afterwards. Being civil has the added effect of bringing credibility to your complaint as to the event, if you choose to make a complaint.

got it. I think that it's not suppose to touch the ground ever wet or not....most likely couldn't keep that from happening when he was jolted.
Next up: the ACLU.

True, my point was neither would I. The difference is: the liberals would defend him if it were say, child pornography, but not if it were the bible. Won’t be surprised if the ACLU gets involved b/c the koran isn’t suppose to touch the ground. Obviously this man’s religious rights were violated. /s

Did it have wires too? Yes, it had two wires connected to two posts. Police suspect the perp had a nervous trigger finger or a defective mouse.
To: ECM
Yeah, except that this wouldnt be news if it was a Bible.
'cause the person holding it would be waving it in the cops' faces, not hiding it.
To: Stoat
What is missing here is, did he specifically tell the officers that "he did not want to raise his right hand from under his shirt because he did not want to drop the Quran
Otherwise, be prepared to be forced to drop the f'n Evil Book.

“what is the meaning of the markings on the bottom of the magazines? brail???”
It’s so you can tell how many magazines you used shooting the family dog when you raided the wrong house.

Taser stories by the MSM are starting to rank up there with the bad: SUVs, pit bulls, global warming, and Rush Limbaugh.
To: Stoat
They should have shot him.
