Nothing wrong with being charged with murder for doing your job.

You're not really going to give them a free pass on the ground of "chust following oahdahs....?"

I'm not accusing these guys of anything -- it sounds like they did the right thing.

But ... on balance ... it is better for a variety of reasons that inquiries like this can happen. Imagine if actions like this were never investigated.

No, I’m going to give them a friggin medal for killing a creep.

In addition, they were cleared by two military investigations. This general needs to be retired, ASAP.

Wouldn't it be nice if our men and women didn't have to worry about being investigated for actually doing their jobs?

No, wait....maybe we should just assign a NYU/Columbia lawyer to every single military member just so we can fight the war just like the Comrade Liberals think it should be fought.

So we need a hearing for everyone a trooper kills who we don’t actually have footage showing them trying to kill the soldier?

Give me (and them!) a break.

"Imagine if actions like this were never investigated."

That's pretty easy to do. Just go back to any war the United States has ever fought in, prior to the Vietnam War. You don't win wars be being "nice" to a brutal enemy, or by being "fair". Had the early Americans been this stupid you and I would not be here today, because this land would still be a British colony. While the British media railed that they were fighting according to international 'rules' and the colonists weren't, the colonists were picking them off like flies from behind trees, retreating, then hitting them again, from behind. The Colonists didn't like taking prisoners either, because they had no place to keep them.

The Green Berets are the very best, and I trust they know what they're doing infinitely better than the liberal media does.

Yeah, it's just great for our image to have Generals accuse snipers of murder even though they were given a lawful order to erase the target. It's even better when that General runs to the Washington Post and calls a Marine company murderers without being in full possession of all the evidence ...kind of like Murtha?

If there is to be an inquiry, let them investigate within the military. Once the media is involved, the lives of the soldiers are put at risk and our image is tarnished. No one will remember they were cleared of charges....all they will remember is the allegations of a politico.
