WINDSOR, Ontario, Sept. 20 — Fleeing stepped-up sweeps by the American authorities, illegal immigrants to the United States, mostly Mexican, are arriving in growing numbers at the foot of the bridge in this Canadian border town seeking refugee status.
Still more immigrants, mostly Mexicans living illegally in Florida, have begun trying to make their way past America’s northern border at other locations, the majority of them flying into the airport in Toronto, Canadian officials said Thursday.
The arrivals here began suddenly three weeks ago, just a family or two at first, fueled by the notion — largely unfounded, the authorities here say — that Canada would grant them asylum.

I wonder why these people aren’t staying home in Mexico to clean up their government, expell the drug lords, and improve living conditions there. Oh, that takes real courage and real work.

Well, here’s a little good news from the decline in new housing starts in Florida!
All this wasted energy. Here’s a novel idea...They should go back to Mexico and storm THEIR OWN gov’t and demand better living conditions.

No lawns to mow but there are plenty of sidewalks that need the snow cleared. There are lots of tomatoes grown here (all Heinz ketchup sold in North America is made in Ontario) but they’re harvested by machine, and there are no oranges to pick but we grow plenty of apples, plums and peaches.
