(AP) BOSTON An MIT student has been arrested at gunpoint after allegedly walking into Logan International Airport with a fake bomb strapped to her chest this morning.
State police say 19-year-old Star Simpson, a sophomore from Hawaii, had a computer circuit board, wiring and a putty that later turned out to be Play-Doh in plain view over a black hooded sweatshirt she was wearing.

Smart enough to get into MIT. Dumb enough to think an airport bomb hoax is funny,
It’s almost too bizarre to not be true.

MIT links to “star” are down.

I’ve met many people with high IQ’s, and they didn’t have the sense God gave a billy goat. I’ve worked with about a half dozen MIT grads, and they tend to be atheists and radicals. I hope these were the exceptions, but I fear they were not.

Probably to “artistically represent” plastic explosives.

Her photo sure fits the profile of a liberal hippie flower child......all hair and no boobs.
Well, maybe a Sinead O'Connor hippie flower child...
no hair and no boobs.

Why was she holding Play-Doh? I don't know. Maybe it just feels good in your hand? It would have been more interesting if a cap had been inserted in the Doh and wired to a device programmed to recognize the words "Allahu Akbar!" shouted out with hands reaching for heaven. Oh, and don't forget the carpet tacks.
Here she is leaving court:

On second thought, that picture linked in my last comment is so hot, I just have to post it outright.

Okay, I got a look at this thing on FoxNews.com. It looks nothing like a bomb. It’s just a little breadboard with some green LEDs and a 9v battery. NOTHING like a bomb. Boston police overreacted again.

The fact that the Boston police and the airport goons don’t recognize something for what it is doesn’t make it a hoax bomb.
