No insult intended........is Bush a republican?

None taken. I do think Bush is a 'Republican', whatever that means on any given day or issue, and therein lies the problem - neither Bush nor Republicans are consistently conservative in their thinking or actions so what the heck are they? RINOs seems to be a popular label. I don't think there is a reliable 'definition' of what a Republican or a Democrat is any more and as you say, the characteristics of both parties have morphed over the years. We might as well have Repubocrats and Demolicans.

whatever you call them, I’m done voting for this lot. I remember Bush’s first election. I voted for him because he fed the line that he would bring all the troops home from overseas and stop the “world cop” role. The politicians from both parties promise things they know they can’t deliver because they propose and congress disposes, and they harbor hidden agendas so that we never really know what they are going to do. It’s pretty obvious to me that “we the people” have become “we the shills”. Our votes get them elected but we have no ownership or control over the ultimate outcome. It truly makes me wonder who is really pulling the strings of these puppets and what ideological school of thought they are really following.
