It wasn’t a manpad, it was test of an anti-missile system..... thus the supression. Would have killed off a big company the defense department depends on.

So it's your contention that the Defense Department tested an anti-missile system by firing one into the busiest commercial air corridor in the world? Just how stupid do you think the military is?

The test was public knowledge. Check archives for tests at that time.
