Over the past three weeks, 45 families and 31 individuals -- approximately 200 people -- entered Canada at the Detroit River crossings and applied in Windsor for shelter and social assistance after filing refugee claims with the Canada Border Services Agency. Municipal agencies dealing with the sudden influx of mainly Mexican refugee applicants are renting out hotel rooms and bracing for predicted thousands more to come.
"I don't believe that Windsor's residents and taxpayers should have to foot the bill for U.S. immigration policy," Francis told The Star. He was referring to the suspected source of the problem -- a recently begun crackdown on illegal immigrants in economically struggling regions of the U.S. South.

"We don't have the means, ability or capacity to deal with this additional cost. We are not able to deal with this potential crisis locally," Francis wrote Harper.
and
"When there is a possibility of adding thousands to the local social assistance system as a result of refugee claimants crossing the border into Windsor, we will become overwhelmed and our current resources will not suffice,"
No kidding? When they get to "millions" and they have figured it out, then I'll have some sympathy. Geesh!

Snort. They ain't seen nuttin yet. And it is delightful that these refugees are bringing their families along. By all means, let's encourage ALL of our illegals to go to Canada, where they can be taken under the financial wing of the generous Canadian government and taxpayers. Get those niños enrolled in school and demand classes for them in Spanish instead of French. Perhaps we could pick them up at the border and take them directly to Niagara Falls! And as for "economic refugees" being our fault, Canada can pound sand, uh, arena.

Here's the kicker...we can even help expedite self-deportation
with contributions!
Some legislator in Florida should get a bill passed to pay that
$300 (or $400) to help expedite these "entitlement cases" to
Canada, a caring Socialist country without any sort of prejudice.
(/sarc)
AND "VOA" thinks Canada, like the USA is too nice and civilized to
endure these invaders.
Perhaps in a year or two, the Canadian govt. will agree.

But a group operating out of Naples, Fla., vowed to continue sending
the so-called economic refugees to Windsor.
"They ask, 'Is Canada an option?' and I say, 'Yes, it is an option,'"
Jacques Sinjuste of the Jerusalem Haitian Community Center said
in a phone interview Wednesday. For a US$300 "donation" (most of
those interviewed in Windsor claim they paid US$400), JHCC staff
download forms off the Internet, help applicants fill them out
and give directions on how to get to the Canadian border.

"This is a problem the U.S. has allowed to create. It's really unfair for Canada to have to face this," said MP Joe Comartin. I warned Canada years ago that if they thought that the illegal aliens were going to stop at the 49 parallel they were nuts.
Embrace them, they are doing the work that Canadians wont do. LOL

A woman called in to the local conservative talk radio station yesterday. It is apple harvest here in Pennsyltuckia. She was saying without illegals she can’t harvest her apples. Which led me to the solution and the big lie:
The big lie: Illegals bring the price of agri goods and services down. Lie—taxes have to be collected to provide the illegals with health care, free college and subsidiary benefits. Those cheap apples cost a buck a pound until you factor in taxes: They really cost much more.
Solution:This woman wants illegals, okay. Instead of a fine let’s say the border people count twenty Mexos at her orchard. The feds leave. A week later the woman receives a bill in the mail for 4 million dollars: For the care and feeding of illegals. I think apples will get a little more expensive but illegals will be gone. I’d say taxes will go down but there is a better chance that monkeys will fly out of my *ss before that happens.

Ship em back to MexicoA logical statement. Well said. Take no notice of the anti-America crowd. There are uite a few of 'em, to be honest.
No Canadian conservative worthy of the name, can possibly blame America. The established law is the law. Canada has it's own deportation laws. They will pack someone on a military transport, if they think the deportee would disrupt a regular flight.

That’s rich!
We start to (finally) enforce our laws, and both Canada and Mexico blame us for their “new” problems.LOL!

I like the idea of exporting our problems to Canada. I just want to make sure they don’t come back. Give the illegals a map showing that the northern Canadian boundaries are the shortest route back to Florida and we’ll chip in for gas money.
