I would have to deny both the Bible and a whole lot of good certifiable history to agree that conspiriacies at the top echelons of political parties don’t exist.

Further there are just TOO MANY people, in the RNC, the party as a whole, even here on FR -— especially her on FR, that believe that economics is the number one underlying issue of conservatism and that all else must take a seat in the trunk of the bus. TOO MANY.

We have agreed on much, and I think of you as a FRiend.

I agree a person’s relgious beliefs will inform their judgements and choices when they hold political office. Insofar as morals are brought to us primarily from our religion(s)- that’s a good thing and I do not expect or desire otherwise.

- It’s what I said in my first post- the mixing of specific religious beliefs into politics worries me. I am- however- a pro-life conservative, and the lack of respect for life in our country is an awful spectacle.

- Not sure how we got from my not caring for James Dobson and his political pronouncements to being pro-life..

Hey they really (SC Voters): Won’t SERIOUSLY Take EITHER when it comes down to it in the end of the day!

If you take my comments in full; you’ll see what I was talking about is the liberal-rockefeller-country club wing (mostly made up of NY transplants..!) They probably would vote for Guilani over Romney! :-(P anyway, thank God they’re still a Minority of the Party in SC@! (Most of the Good ‘Ole Folks: Won’t vote for either; they’ll probably end up supporting FRED).

Next time please read my comments IN ‘context’..I agree with you they WON’T vote for a MA(H*13),..though

“Fred’s opposition to the Marriage Protection Amendement is based on sound Federalist principles.”

Please explain to me how amending the Constitution, as the founders provided for in the original document, violates “federalism”?

Do you support repeal of the amendment that outlaws slavery in all 50 states? Explain why the concept of “federalism” is more important than universal guarantees.

Explain the difference, for example, between universally guaranteeing the right to keep and bear arms, and leaving it to all 50 states to do so? Do you believe New York should be free to suspend the RKBA? If not, why not?

Explain some consistent, logical principle by which you presumably support some universal guarantees that clearly violate “federalism,” but oppose others.

Please provide a reference where he dictates what “true evangelical Christians” should do. Seriously. I wasn’t aware that he was so judgmental, implying that if you do otherwise you’re not a “true evangelical Christians.”

“Pipper”?

Again, you’re unable to respond to my specific questions because your doctrine is indefensible. You may have “faith,” but it’s not founded in truth. If it were, you’d respond to my specific questions.

May you come to realize Joseph Smith for the deceptive man that he was.

You may continue your ad hominem attacks against me, since that’s all you’re capable of.

“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government...will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce.”

So explain how a ban on domestic slavery fits into the category of “external objects.”

“The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.”

So you’re saying you think the issue of slavery, obviously falling into the category of “lives, liberties, and properties,” should revert to the states?

Dobson’s ministry is necessarily political since the family is under attack politically, through abortion, homosexual marriage, public school immorality and the like. Billy Graham was an evangelist. Different roles for the two, apples and oranges in a way.

“Let me explain how the 10th Amendment works.”

Oh, thanks for *explaining.* Rofl. What you just wrote is directly analogous to explaining to me that if the rules of the NFL are changed so that a frisbee is used then it’s still football.

Let me explain first principles: are you comfortable with a federal government that is happy to pass a whole Constitutional amendment about a social issue?

If so, then don’t squawk when or if the Dims get power and do exactly the same but instead of protecting conservative values, they mandate gays as a protected class by Constitutional amendment or repeal the 2nd Amendment.

The same government that can do one can do the other. I don’t want that. I want a nice limited government that does its duties as laid out in the Constitution and stops there, leaving everything else to the states or to the people.

Dr. Dobson has made it pretty clear that he doesn’t mind Ubergovernment because he envisions an government that does what he wants. The problem is that government doesn’t.

Leni, you make it sound like Dobson did something terrible. Not supporting Thompson for President doesn’t make Dobson a “false prophet” or “con man.” Sheesh!

Now if he attacks Duncan Hunter . . . :P

I think Dr. Dobson is mistaken in his criticism of Fred and should be using his influence to help him - like how about a private meeting to discuss the issues of concern and share the gospel, rather than alienating? All in all Fred is solid down the line on all issues of concern to this social conservative Christian voting for a President not a preacher. If Dobson has a problem with the Federal Marriage Act vs. Federalism, that is worth a discussion. Fred will need all the prayers and wisdom he can get.

I agree with your post for the most part. I think there is something underlying Dobson's take on Thompson, either a rumor that he believes, or something he knows, or something personal. Regardless, he's said negative things twice that hit the public, so he's definitely against Thompson at this point.

I am not going to get in the way here, but I think Dr. Dobson is not going to be kindly to a man that wants no favors. Unfortunately Dr. Dobson does’nt say who he wants the Church to support.

“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government...will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce.” So explain how a ban on domestic slavery fits into the category of “external objects.”

The slave trade was foreign commerce.

“The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.” So you’re saying you think the issue of slavery, obviously falling into the category of “lives, liberties, and properties,” should revert to the states?

And yet some of the separate and sovereign northern states passed legislation independent of the federal government banning slaves, some even banning the existence of blacks within their borders (the Oregon Constitution went so far as to ban 'Chinamen' (their words not mine)). Apparently to these northern states it did fall under the purview of the states as to what their powers were.

But marriage has nothing to do with 'foreign commerce' does it? It clearly falls under the limitations of Federalist 45. If the Framers knew there were some advocating passage of an Amendment to ban associations at the federal level (no matter how disgusting they may be), they would be laughing their heads off.

Issues with the IRS? What are you DU? The left attacked him with lawsuits, filing complaints to the IRS, which he won. Just typical left-wing attempt to surpress speech.
