Maybe to stop being constantly intimidated, threatened, insulted and mocked by Democrats? It's not like the Republicans have ever stepped up to defend doctors.

What's going on right now is a campaign of threat. The Hillaryites are letting it be known that docs had better not put up much of a fight. Hillary helped shut down a medical school or two.

There are lots more lawyers and screamers, pouters and whiners, in this country than doctors--they are outnumbered. And is it true that Fred Thompson is anti tort reform? Great.

It's not docs who drive the increase in our medical costs, anyway--it's the cost of maintaining the infrastructure. Hospitalization, support technicians, machines, treatments, procedures--not the hands on contact with the physician.

They tried a few times. Tort reform has failed in the Senate after passing in the House. It was close. President Bush said he would have signed it, but he didn’t really fight for it.

And it’s something that needs to happen. Not just for America’s doctors and our healthcare industry, but for our businesses, as well. American corporations now spend more money fighting lawsuits than they do in research & development.

Think about that. How is a technologically-oriented nation such as our own supposed to remain competitive in a business environment where we’re subsidizing lawyers more than investing in our future?

>>>And is it true that Fred Thompson is anti tort reform? Great.<<<

Yep. He’s opposed it and voted against it. He says it’s on federalist grounds, but he should know as a former-lawyer about how common venue shopping is. A lawyer can comb throught the laws of the 50 states, and if there’s a single lawsuit, he can use the laws of that state to begin looping in everyone else. It should be a federal issue, and I think that’s pretty obvious.

It’s one reason I refuse to back Thompson.
