Israel declares Gaza an 'enemy entity'

JERUSALEM - Israel's Security Cabinet declared the Gaza Strip an "enemy entity" Wednesday, Israeli radio stations reported. ADVERTISEMENT

The decision would let Israel cut off vital electricity, water and fuel supplies to the Palestinian territory, which the Islamic militant Hamas group took over in June.

The action would be the most severe of the retaliatory measures Israel has taken recently against near-daily rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel. Israel hopes to force Hamas to stop the projectile attacks because Israeli airstrikes and land incursions against the rocket launchers have not been effective.

Before His ministry on earth, Jesus spent 40 days in the 'wilderness' without eating. It is a testing place for the righteous and an abode for the unrighteous.

I can't help thinking of the verse in Hebrews which tells us of where the warfare really is... and humans are just the puppets where these spirits act out their character on earth...

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

It’s time for Israel to declare the experiments over and take back ALL of Gaza and the West Bank. Lay down a list of rules for civilized behavior, and enforce them. Offer everyone who resides there a revocable limited Israeli citizenship, and declare the matter settled.

When a leftist jerk like Olmert makes a threat, has it ever meant anything?

I will say that if he actually takes some action, it will be effective, since Kadima is currently run by a troika of the worst kind of left-wing peaceniks.

But I’ll believe it when I see it.

From JPost:

Hamas: Israeli decision ‘act of war’

“A Hamas spokesperson on Wednesday called the security cabinet’s decision to declare the Gaza Strip an enemy entity a comprehensive declaration of war, for which Israel would bear the consequences.

The spokesman said Hamas would work to get international backing to prevent Israel from cutting off Gaza’s water, electricity and fuel supply - a step it would now be able to take if it so chose and following legal examination.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas also expressed anger over Israel’s decision on Wednesday, condemning the plan as “an oppressive decision.”

“This oppressive decision will only strengthen the chocking embargo imposed on 1.5 million people in the Gaza Strip, increase their suffering and deepen their tragedy,” Abbas’ office said in a statement.

The government decided to declare the Gaza Strip an enemy entity on Wednesday, choosing to adopt a plan presented by Defense Minister Ehud Barak during the security cabinet meeting in which it was recommended that electricity be cut off the region’s 1.4 million Palestinian residents.

Following the decision, a UN official called the move problematic, telling Army Radio that since Gaza was still under Israeli occupation and Israel controlled all crossings in and out of the area, collective punishment of all Gaza residents would constitute a violation of international law.”

“Israel declares Gaza an ‘enemy entity’”

Funny. It wasn’t before the IDF forcibly removed Israelis’ from their homes in the same place.

File this one under “lesson learned?”

What took them so long?

Actually I think the timing of this is really telling, coming on the heels of their bombing the nuke target in Syria. Looks to me like Israel is drawing some battle lines.

The purpose for what Israel has initiated is to pursue punitive action
that appears harsh by world opinion but meets legalistic standards as
outlined in documents such as the Geneva Conference.

In noting the way Israel worded its decision “enemy entity”, punitive actions considered legal in cases where an enemy entity has been declared may be
only for sovereign nations but not for non-state entities such as the Palestinian “terror-tories”.

I wonder if the legal ramifications for punitive action in cases like Gaza present any legalistic/diplomatic for Israel.

...near-daily rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel.

The inevitable consequence of pulling out of Gaza completely. Only the hopelessly naive believed that action would be "a step on the road to peace."

Don’t worry: the NY Slimes will run sympathetic articles about the terrorists in Gaza and call them “militants”. The suffering of the Jews has never meant anything to the Times.

There are only 2 things that will stop the rocket attack: IDF invasion or tactical nukes. Neither one appears to be politically feasible, and with the latter there is always the issue of fallout depending on which way the winds are blowing.

Hamas has not really provided any reason for the civilized world to condone its continued existance.

God to Israel : I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. The USA has stood by Israel all these past 60 years despite the carter/clinton aberrations. If we stand shoulder to shoulder against evil we have nothing to fear. STAY THE COURSE as our president says, STAY THE COURSE!
