Notice that the prophecy doesn't specify who (or Who) will make Damascus a ruinous heap.

I would concur that any nation that launches chemical weapons at Israel is going to be utterly destroyed. A few missiles (or hundreds) loaded with chemicals is far too many, esp. for a nation as small as Israel. But to allow it to go unpunished, for Israel to not show in the starkest and most brutal manner possible, that this is utterly unacceptable is to invite further and more devastating attacks, culminating in Israel ceasing to be a nation. That isn't going to happen, not even if the PM happens to be a corrupt, appeasing idiot - even he realizes that survival is survival.

Syria and Iran should be VERY careful. They're probably not too far from a nuclear enema.
