I lived in PA for a short while in murtha’s district. The only thing he is good for is bringing home the pork. He is a crook and should have been in jail for years now. instaed he gets to stand up making idiotic speeches about how things won’t be ‘his’ fault when it all goes to heck. As far as he is concerned, a dollar spend in Iraq is a $ that cant be spent in his district.
That, and the area has a long-time old-school Democratic base that would sooner vote for the devil himself before voting for a Republican. And maybe they have....
Murtha keeps out of jail because the Dem’s protect him as long as he stays on the offensive. The people in Johnstown have used the unions to throw all business out of town and need the Murtha pork to survive. Democrats and Republicans alike.
The defense contractors who support Murtha because he can deliver, are hurting the very troops they supply.
There is more than enough shame to go around. When Murtha started to accuse innocent Marines of murder and ruined their lives you would have thought that citizens of Johnstown, politicians and defense contractors would have said ENOUGH. Didn't’ happen.
