Thompson is a Rosarch test for too many. He needs to make the case for me to vote for him. He has yet to do that. Nor is he yet the nominee.
This conservative, values voter is getting sick and tired of “debates”. If this one was on TV, I don’t even know what network carried it.
We can argue over what is and isnt a value voter and how much or little they matter but what we should be talking about is the lack of values in our politicians. Every year its the same thing over and over again. We end up with a democrat and a Republican who has moved a little to what they call the middle. Neither has kept many if any real core values.
Who is Janet Folger and what is her infomercial?
You might be right but it didn't pan out in the 06 elections. The economy was roaring but Republicans still took a threshing. Why? Because they never bothered to take credit for the good economy.
Republicans have to get better at the political game and therein lies our problem. Republicans are horrible at fighting this war.
If you think the "values voters" are the largest voting block in the nation, you are seriously mistaken.
The largest voting block in the general election is needy single females with no religious belief, followed by welfare recipients.
So-called "values voters" MAY be able to prevent the nomination of an electable Republican, although that's doubtful.
As far as determining the next President, don't be ridiculous.
Because "gay rights" represents to heterosexuals the proposition that they should be able to have sex with anyone they want, whenever they want, regardless of religious or social conventions - and that view is enormously popular.
OK, let's accept that the "values voters" are able to defeat Republicans they don't like by staying home.
Is there any evidence that "values voters" can ELECT anybody after they alienate all other sectors of the Republican party or society at large?
Look at the language the "values voters" use in this and other threads, when they are talking about other Republicans, never mind independents and Democrats!
The independents plus the Democrats make an invincible electoral coalition. The only way they can be defeated, ever, is to split the indy-RAT block with issues and candidates that appeal to indys.
But guess who the independents have glommed on to as their antiparticles?
Yes, it's the "values voters".
Unless and until the "values voters" are strong enough to start electing Members of Congress on their own (which will probably be never), they have to find coalition partners.
This is not being disrespected, or "shoved to the back of the bus".
This is simple math.
The economy was roaring but Republicans still took a threshing. Why? Because they never bothered to take credit for the good economy.
The economy wasn’t that good. It was roaring ahead in major markets like NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. where 30 year olds were making $5 or $10 million a year working for hedge funds, but less good elsewhere in secondary markets. And many, many folks had their noses in the air getting the first whiff of something.
You call it a blunder an then say in the future the front runners will attend. Well yesterday wasn’t the future, and Fred is a front runner.
Oh, the “We won’t vote for Clinton, but also won’t vote for some one who takes you for granted” meme, well that is a hoot. You know what you and the nation are left with, bupkis.
That’s one hell of a “value” friend.
That's exactly what Lenin's opponents in 1917 and Hitler's in 1932-33 said.
They were both wrong.
Your last point sums it up.
In general, the right supports the traditional values of America (which are PROVEN to work),
and the left seeks to destroy all vestiges thereof.
Janet, bless her soul, is fooling herself.
Huckabee cannot possibly unite the Republican base. It simply can’t happen.
And you cannot elect someone by yourselves.
Who do you want as coalition partners, and what will you give up to get them?
Translation: If you don't kiss our butt, we won't vote for you.
Nice 'value'.
Thank God we have a viable alternative to that in the race now.

actually I saw the debate and its production value was abysmal, a few of the kook candidates diminished the whole debate by their presense (ronpaul) and had no business there. (keys last minute addition to the circus)
If the debate had stripped the fouth tier candidates like ron paul and spent some money on a real production they MIGHT have had a fighting chance. Poor video, sound that was sounding like under water, and inconsistend audio quality did not help.
You felt bad for the second tier candidates that did show up.
I also think it did NOT help Joseph Farah was involved.
