It's always good to be prepared for disaster. It was treating disastrous consequences to Y2K as a virtual certainty that really sunk WND. A little circumspection would have gone a long way. They still haven't learned.
My sister is a systems analyst, and many of her co-workers thought that Y2K could be a huge problem, so it was a possibility.
