A Prince George's County man says he feels lucky to be alive after he was attacked by two large dogs while walking his own dogs Monday morning in Fort Washington. The incident left two dogs dead, a third in the animal hospital and a fourth at the pound.
Richard Kenner was walking his dogs, a shih tzu and a shepherd-husky mix, about 7:30 a.m. in the 12,900 block of Asbury Drive when two Cane Corsos attacked him.
Kenner described what happened during an ordeal he says lasted as long as twenty minutes.
"He went around behind me, before I could turn around he attacked me from behind. One latched onto my buttocks area and was just... I could feel my flesh tearing, actually.

Kenner was bitten on the arms, the legs and in the groin area. He was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Kenner says he feels luck to be alive and credits an off-duty federal officer who happened by and intervened. The man, who was not identified by police, fatally shot one of the attacking dogs, but also, in the confusion, fatally shot Kenner's sheperd-husky mix.
Despite the accidental killing of his own dog, Kenner says he's thankful the officer was there.
"I'm very grateful, very grateful," said Kenner. "When I told him, while I was laying on the ground, waiting for the ambulance, I let him know how grateful I was to him for freeing me from that attack."
But that wasn't the end of it.
Somehow, in the confusion, the shih tzu's leash was snagged by a car, which dragged it down the road. The dog was taken to an animal hospital and is expected to recover.

Cane corsos and also dogo argeninos. I think they are about the same thing...kinda like a cross between a pit and an american bulldog...except with a pure evil disposition. They aren’t bred for dog fights. As I understand it they are bred to kill people.
Good grief! This story has got it all...
“Cane Corsos arent pit bulls.
They are worse. They are like giant pits with attitude.”
In the wrong hands they are also very dangerous. If the dog establish dominance, forget about it.
LOL!!! That was too good. You will now be required to beat yourself with a wet noodle.
It was two of these dogs that attacked and killed the woman in her San Francisco apartment a few years ago.
If you’re trying to start an argument, your doing a good job of it. But I’ll let someone else take the bait. I’m too tired to get into it with you.
oh right - the ones owned by the 2 lawyers
“Somehow, in the confusion, the shih tzu’s leash was snagged by a car, which dragged it down the road.”
If it wasn’t for bad luck, that guy wouldn’t have any at all.
I’ve not heard of these dogs before. I’ve never seen one shown. Looking up Cane Corso’s in my 1981 ca The Complete Dog Book, AKC, the breed is not included.
But I have had four Shih Tsus. I hope that poor little one heals well. What a terrible experience! I hope the victim sues the sox off the owner of the Cane Corsos!
Not only that, his own beloved pet would still be alive. Still, I'm glad he's going to be ok, and am sorry for his loss.
Same loser who ownes these dangerous dogs could have owned a couple of ... oh, let's say, bassett hounds, and there's still a chance this would have happened, then.
Right.
Same loser + different breed = very different outcome. It's a breed problem.
Still, on the "slippery slope" principle, I reject breed banning. It's wrongheaded. I do endorse the full recognition that this is a breed problem. That would go a long way toward reaching a ban-free solution.
Everything that can go wrong, did.

Actually, not QUITE everything, fortunately!
Wrong.
Wrong thread.
Is this the dog in the movie “Hootch” with Tom Hanks? Great movie, btw.
Most are just moderate pits, it's the radical pits that cause the problems. Kinda like muzzies. Hard to trust.
I thought those dogs were Presa Canarios.
Because they were.
Just so you know, you aren’t being cute.
