War Opponents Train For Visits to Area Schools And Recruitment Centers (ANSWER, DC area)
The Washington Post ^ | Sept 17, 2007 | Michelle Boorstein

Two days after bringing thousands of protesters to the U.S. Capitol, Iraq war opponents will begin a "week of action" today that starts with sending activists to area high schools and military recruiting centers and marching through a congressional building.

Dozens of war opponents, including some who were among the 192 arrested Saturday, spent yesterday training for this week, which will be "the most intense week" of planned actions since the Iraq conflict began, said Brian Becker, national coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition, which organized Saturday's rally and march and many of the other large antiwar events across the country.

Activists came to four training sessions held at George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs yesterday, many trading stories from their arrests or from clashes with several hundred war supporters who lined the march route.

They are calling today National Truth in Recruiting Day, during which war opponents will try to reach young people in particular, as well as anyone considering joining the military. Activists said yesterday that they planned to visit area recruiting centers, schools and other places young people might go and that war opponents would be doing the same in such spots across the country.

"You have to ask the right questions, find out what's motivating them, share with them the truth and dispel myths," Adam Kokesh, co-chair of Iraq Veterans Against the War, told the crowd, which included local college students as well as older activists, many of whom had traveled from outside the Distrcit.

Other strategies include trying to eat up recruiters' time by calling and visiting centers and pretending to be potential recruits.

So isn’t this like “Action week” 20 or something? You would think they would finally realize these sort of stunts do more to discredit their cause then anything else

Perhaps the WaPo could enlighten its readers with the procedure of getting arrested over and over again in the same jurisdiction, ie DC, and being back on the street in less than a few hours - over and over again.

Brian Becker, Medea Benjamin, Cindy Sheehan, Ramsay Clark, Ralph Nader (fgs!) and their sycophants are getting more pathetic with each event.

Please, calling them writers makes us assume they have a talent and they don’t. They should have been kicked out of Jounalism class with the grade of “F” for failure (in more ways than one!).

I think once they meet up with Vietnam era vet’s...and get tossed around a couple of times...they probably will scurry back to their “pit” and think about some other group to screw with.

Any school that won't let military recruiters into the school on a "we want to come when we want to come" basis, should lose all federal funding if they let these traitors into their school. The recruiters should kick their asses, if and when the moonbats barge into their offices, and then hold them for the federal marshals or FBI. If they are outside of the public areas of Congressional buildings, they should be arrested for trespassing.

Again, they should get their asses kicked.

Someone just needs to yell: "These are the same SOBs who defaced The Wall" and that will be that.
