The nuclear Iranian crisis forces the world "to prepare for the worst" which "is war," French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said Sunday evening, while emphasizing that negotiations should still be the preferred course of action.
Kouchner, quoted by French daily Le Figaro, added that "Iran does whatever it pleases in Iraq ... one cannot find in the entire world a crisis greater than this one."
Wow. Sarkozy’s government might be getting serious on this one...
The thermometers in H-ll must be hitting new lows.
But if the French are really serious about Iran...great!
“Prepare for war so you don’t have to fight one” is a paraphrase of the sage wisdom of the ages.
The original Latin of the expression “if you want peace prepare for war” comes from “Epitoma Rei Militaris,” by Vegetius. The Latin is: “Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum.”

Ill believe it when I see it.
The French are famous for their duplicity.
Whoda thunk it was a Vegetarian Principal? /kidding
The new French Government has been talking tough on Iran from Day One.
Not sure what they see has their interests there, but they probably do stand to gain if they can help broker peace in Iraq and play European bad cop on Iran. Nearly everyone in the region agrees that civil war and a stronger Iran are bad things. World insiders say that the US is too hamstrung by war politics to take a strong enough leadership role.
The French are deeply patriotic and can be very tough militarily if properly riled. They benefit by filling even a small part of the vacuum, which certainly exists at the moment.
Hail the French!! Never thought I would hear myself say this. I like it. Reminds me a bit of the old France we used to love. :-)
Sarkozy is a different animal ..outspokenly pro American...
this will be interesting.
Ping.
A minority of the population. But hopefully growing under Sarkozy.
Pre-Verdun France.
Even the French are getting ready for a war with the terrorist regime in Tehran :)
emphasizing that negotiations should still be the preferred course of action
emphasizing that white flags should still be the preferred course of action. There all fixed.
Pontiac, you are far too kind in your comments directed towards france.
Don’t get to the conclusion too quickly.
The French are the French... Before you see one French soldier to show up for a war (Frnace does not like wars, it never wins them), we will be on autumn 2025.
Give credit were credit is due me mum used to say.
I’d say things about to get exciting.
