It was amnesty. It allowed those who entered here illegally and committed other crimes like ID theft, tax evasion, to stay and work here legally without being deported or jailed. It was no different than the 1986 bill in that regard. No matter how much you repeat that it was’t amnesty, we all know that it was.

It was amnesty. There was no discernible difference between the Senate’s bill and the one in ‘86. It some respects it was even worse than ‘86. The one in ‘86 required that the illegal had to be living and working in the country for four years. The illegals in ‘86 were also required to pay back taxes to the IRS. Thanks to that idiot Chertoff, the illegals under the Senate bill wouldn’t have to pay back taxes to the IRS ( “too time consuming”).
