Just curious, they got in how? And got out how?Very carefully. That's all anyone needs to know.

As a bonus, the Israelis proved they could penetrate the Syrian air defence system, which is stronger than the one protecting Iranian nuclear sites. I hope that Rice drops this on the conference table and lets it sit there until the Iranis get the point. Their bluster conceals a great deal of fear. We can do ten times as much as the Israelis can.

the Israelis shut down Syria's air defense systems. The encountered little to no resistance. They had a commando team on the ground, painting the target. All aircraft returned safely to base as did the commando team.
It also makes clear to the Syrians that the Israelis know when they so much as fart out of tune. The reason they're not making a big deal out of this is because the cannot sanitize what they have been up to. They know that US and Israeli intelligence know exactly what was hit.
This is a huge embarrassment for the Syrians and it places them on notice that they are not as ready for the Israelis as they thought they were.

Putin suckered by Israelis. As a former career KGB officer, that must be especially humiliating.

Maybe seeing the IDF go in an take acre of business will spur some of our SOF and AF guys to want ot show their stuff and get in on the action. What our guys (in all services - but especially in SOF) have been accomplishing in the past 6 years of this WOT (mostly in the shadows) is historically astounding. Ops tempo's other forces couldn't imagine.
We've hit AQ sites throughout the ME, SE Asia and the HOA (often in places we supposedly aren't).
Lastly, it is never our SOF guys who don't want to "show their stuff" (as you put it). Talk to HQs.
Having 160000 troops doing police work in villages and cities and fixing schools and manning checkpoints is largely a waste of time.
You don't have a clue, with all due respect - Not a clue if that is your serious thought -

Anyone know where this attack was? Is there a name of a nearby town or any landmark being reported anywhere?

I agree. Night and day to Peretz who knew nothing.

You are absolutely correct that the media is far too busy trying to lose the war in Iraq than it is in reporting the world wide news. Or reporting on O.J. or Princess Di ten years later.
But, I blame part of that on the American public. After all, you and I found out about a potentially dangerous crisis.

No. Nobody seems to be talking. Not yet anyway. It is an indication that this operation is a resounding success.

I know. Putin’s double humiliation (the Israeli defeat of Syria’s Russian-built air defense system being the other half) is the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae.

And they manage to do this even with the sorry excuse for a leader they now have. There are still some who will take action for the survival of their people. Im sure our State dept. is very upset. When we {our government} on very rare occassion manages somehow not to try and control Israel's affairs good things usually happen. Nuclear weapons production facilities get destroyed and potential problems to the U.S. from other nations are held in check. When we try to manage their moves? It usually spells disaster.

no offense, but you don’t know that. Unless you’re Mossad, you’re speculating. I would love everything you say to be true, but I am erring on the side of skepticism.

It is interesting to me that the man Clinton c oop;ted to sell out his country is now defense minister. That’s a better option.
